STILLWATER, Okla. -- Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury never really considered going for a 2-point conversion and the victory, feeling confident his team could prevail in overtime. The game never got that far.Clayton Hatfield missed the extra point after Quinton Whites 1-yard scoring run with 1:39 left, and No. 17 Oklahoma State escaped with a 45-44 victory over Texas Tech on Saturday. We had the momentum, Kingsbury said. I liked what we were doing offensively, I liked what we were doing defensively, so I felt great about going to overtime. Our team handled it the last time very well, so that was the plan.Texas Tech (4-6, 2-5 Big 12) appeared to have overcome a 10-point fourth quarter deficit when White spun into the end zone on third-and-goal from the 1, but Hatfields kick sailed wide right, leaving the Red Raiders down by one.I thought they would go for two, Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. If you look at it from his point of view, 2-point conversions are about 33 percent effective. But it would not have surprised me.After Oklahoma State (8-2, 6-1, No. 13 CFP) recovered the onside kick attempt, the Cowboys marched quickly into the red zone, and resisted Techs attempts to let them score before running out the clock. It hurts, it definitely hurts, said Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the nations leading passer, who completed 34 of 51 passes for 344 yards and three touchdowns. We had a lot of chances to win, but they found a way to win, we didnt. Its kind of like the whole season. It hurts, but were going to go out there and fight. Weve got two games to get bowl eligible.Mahomes also rushed for two touchdowns, giving him 12 and setting a new Texas Tech single-season record for a quarterback, surpassing the previous mark of 10 set by Rodney Allison in 1976.For Oklahoma State, Mason Rudolph threw for 395 yards and two touchdowns on 20-of-28 passing, and also rushed for a touchdown, and Justice Hill had 126 yards and a touchdown on 18 rushes. James Washington registered six receptions for 158 yards, including an 82-yard TD with 6 seconds left in the third quarter that put the Cowboys ahead 45-35.TAKEAWAYTexas Tech: The Red Raiders can run the ball pretty well when they have to or are invited to, and Demarcus Felton needs to get the ball more. Even though he has the leading rusher this season, Felton got a total of one carry over the previous three games, but he came up with 77 yards on 10 rushes before leaving in the third quarter with an ankle injury, the severity of which was unknown. If hes healthy, hes proven he deserves a bigger role in the offense. He did a good job, Kingsbury said. When youre playing those light boxes, he does a good job finding space.Oklahoma State: The Cowboys kept their hopes of a Big 12 championship alive. They need to win next week against TCU to set up a showdown with No. 9 Oklahoma on Dec. 3 for the conference title. Oklahoma State won for the fourth time this season with a margin of seven points or less.PLAY OF THE GAMETexas Tech had just pulled to 38-35 on Mahomes 7-yard touchdown run with 24 seconds left in the third quarter when Rudolph hurled up a deep pass to Washington on the first play of the next possession. Washington caught the ball at the 50 and raced the rest of the way into the end zone for an 82-yard touchdown, restoring a 10-point lead with 6 seconds left in the third.LAST WORDNo fear, no frustration and no fatigue is what we talk about, Gundy said of his teams ability to win close games. I think there is some truth to them believing in themselves makes a big difference. When you start to win over a period of years, you feel like youre going to win. Your mind is much more powerful than the physical part of your body and we believe in that, so they just play hard and Im proud of them.UP NEXTTexas Tech will next face Iowa State on the road.Oklahoma State continues its quest for a Big 12 title by traveling to Fort Worth to take on TCU. Reggie Jackson Jersey . -- Timbers coach Caleb Porter didnt stray from his business-like approach to the season even after Portland downed the two-time defending league champion Los Angeles Galaxy to gain crucial playoff position. Andrew Heaney Jersey . Robredo, ranked No. 16, bounced back from an upset loss to Leonardo Mayer in the second round of the Royal Guard Open in Chile last week to down Carreno Busta in 1 hour, 25 minutes. On a day filled mostly with qualifying matches, fifth-seeded Marcel Granollers of Spain also entered the second with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 win over Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia, while Guido Pella of Argentina defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 7-6 (6), 6-4 to advance. http://www.angelsjerseyscheap.com/ . -- Sergey Tolchinksy scored his second goal of the game 3:56 into overtime as the Sault Ste. Albert Pujols Jersey . -- Golden State Warriors coach Mark Jackson asked his players a simple question during Fridays morning shootaround: How many of them had ever been on a team 14 games over . Andrelton Simmons Jersey . Anthony Calvillo, through 20 CFL seasons, was frequently invincible and largely stoic in the heat of competition. But underneath the professional exterior he was, and is, compellingly human. SAN ANTONIO -- Trying to guard Dwyane Wade proved impossible for Tiago Splitter. Same goes for Boris Diaw. Of course, thats to be expected. Both are big men who, well, wont be confused for nine-time All-Stars anytime soon. What proved to be one of the biggest keys for the Miami Heat in Game 4 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night was that it wasnt just Splitter or Diaw who couldnt guard Wade -- but that no one else wearing San Antonio uniforms could, either. The finals is now a best-of-three matchup that will be decided next week in Miami, thanks largely to Wade, who came up with his best game in months as the Heat knotted the series. Wade had 32 points, six rebounds, six steals and four assists, and the Heat shook off an early 10-point deficit to beat the Spurs 109-93 on Thursday night. "He was Flash tonight," LeBron James said. "Flash was back," Mike Miller added. Flash is the Shaquille ONeal-given moniker that Wade went by when he carried the Heat to the 2006 title. He hasnt been called that often in recent years, but it seemed more than appropriate Thursday night. "It felt good to have a performance like this in this game when we really needed it," Wade said. "If we go down 3-1 tonight, its tough to climb back out that hole. So to respond, thats kind of what youre going to be judged by as a man. You are judged by how you respond. I thought my team responded well, and I thought I responded well." He made 14 of 25 shots, significant in both terms of success ratio and amount, since its the second-highest shot total hes taken this season. He also scored 18 points in the second half, just the sixth time this season thats happened and perhaps ending the trend of Wade -- who has been slowed by a sore right knee for three months, though James said its been an "all year" problem -- losing his offensive game in second halves. "No matter how great you are, no matter what your resume is, to have a game like this, it lets you know that youre still one bad ... you know the next two words. I cant say, my kids may be watching," James said. "That dude was amazing. Like I said, he was 06 Flash tonight. And we needed every bit of him." The biggest adjustment for Wade came hours before Game 4. It was when Miami coach Erik Spoelstra made the decision to start Miller over Udonis Haslem, with thhe thinking that it would help thwart San Antonios defensive schemes against James.dddddddddddd Instead, it served as a time machine of sorts for Wade -- who found his form again, on a night when the Heat absolutely needed it most. "Yeah, I needed a game like this, but my teammates needed a game like this from me," Wade said. "Needed me to be aggressive. Needed me to play the way that Im capable of. Most important, they needed the "Big Three" to play the way were capable of. They depend on us a lot. We love our teammates, and we cant win without them. Were not going to win this series if myself, Chris and LeBron dont show up to play on a consistent basis." Oh, they showed up in Game 4. Wade had 32. James had 33 points and 11 rebounds. Bosh had 20 points and 13 rebounds. And no Spur had more than 20 points. Voila. Series tied, and no one looked more relieved than Wade. "His floor game was there from the beginning," Spoelstra said. "The six steals, the deflections, his activity around the rim when he was there. We obviously have so much more versatility when our wings cover that type of ground. But he was extremely aggressive tonight." Wades post-season has been highly un-Wade-like, with him averaging only 14.2 points in the playoffs entering Thursday. His right knee has been an issue for more than three months -- not coincidentally, thats also when his last 30-point outing before Game 4 was. And by the time fourth quarters roll around, hes typically been finished, getting an average of 2.3 points in the final 12 minutes of games in these playoffs. He is not the 2006 version anymore, without question. "Except for tonight," Miller said. "Tonight, he was." And what the Spurs did against him defensively Thursday had to strike a nerve. Because the Heat started Miller, the Spurs had no choice but to open the game with Splitter -- their centre -- guarding Wade. That experiment ended after 47 seconds. And in the second half, the Spurs went to Diaw -- another person who its difficult to envision guarding a former Finals MVP whos quicker and smaller -- to open against Wade. Both stints were brief. Nonetheless, something got Wade going. "How are you going to respond?" Wade asked his teammates before the game. He apparently took those words to heart as well.
