So I dont feel any sense of pressure at all.Herman praised Texas high school coaches multiple times, as well as Brown, who gave Herman his first job as a Texas graduate assistant in 1999 and attended the event Sunday.Hes only been a head coach for two years, but hes been really good for those two years, Brown said. Does he have what it takes to win a championship? I think he does.Forty-five minutes before the news conference, Herman held a meeting with his Texas team to lay out his expectations for the program. He said he understands why this might be a difficult time for the players, considering their love and support for Strong, who went 16-21 in three seasons at Texas.I told them -- I think it was the thing I led the meeting off with -- A lot of you were very close to Charlie and shouldve been. Hes a heckuva man and a heckuva football coach. I told them some of the things well do in our program will be similar too, Herman said. But I also told them that the definition of insanity is repeatedly performing the same act and expecting different results. We need to change some things.Herman vowed that Texas will have the best-trained team in America and the most physically and mentally tough team on the field, and hes excited to begin recruiting for the program. Herman did not offer details regarding his coaching staff, but at least four of his assistants at Houston are expected to join him in Austin: offensive line coach Derek Warehime, tight ends/fullbacks coach Corby Meekins, defensive line coach Oscar Giles and cornerbacks/special teams coach Jason Washington.
