Since that humbling loss, the Jayhawks have reeled off six straight victories, including a 75-70 road win at Georgetown last time out. Kansas won the only previous matchup, a 79-68 decision in 1995, also in Kansas City. The Utes have really been impressive at both ends of the floor this season. The team enters this contest with a strong +21.3 scoring margin, averaging 78.6 ppg, while allowing just 57.4. Utah is one of the better shooting teams in the country, hitting on 51.6 percent from the floor, including 41.2 percent from behind the arc. The team lost some scoring punch in late November with a knee injury suffered by Jordan Loveridge (11.5 ppg), but others have stepped up and filled the void. Delon Wright has really shot the ball well at a .581 clip and paces the team with 15.4 ppg. Jakob Poeltl and Brandon Taylor are also sporting double-digit scoring averages at 11.3 and 10.3 ppg, respectively. No other Ute finished in double figures, although Kenneth Ogbe (9 pts) was just under the mark. The Jayhawks stood tall in their first true road test of the season, holding off Georgetown in a five-point victory. Brannen Greene was the biggest contributor in the victory, leading the team with 19 points in 18 minutes off the bench. Greene was a perfect 5-of-5 from behind the arc and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line against the Hoyas. Frank Mason III added 14 points to the cause, while Perry Ellis recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Hernandez, already charged with killing another man last year, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to seven charges -- including two counts of first-degree murder -- in the 2012 shooting that killed Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. The night de Abreu and Furtado were killed, Suffolk County First Assistant District Attorney Patrick Haggan said Hernandez and a friend drove from Connecticut to a Boston nightclub called Cure. They were standing at the edge of the dance floor when de Abreu accidentally bumped into Hernandez, smiled at him and did not apologize, according to prosecutors. Haggan said de Abreu and his friends did not appear to recognize Hernandez and had no idea he was upset. Hernandez became increasingly agitated and told his friend that de Abreu had deliberately bumped into him and "was trying him," Haggan said. Hernandez and his friend then went to another nightclub, where Hernandez thought he saw de Abreu and his friends come in, according to Haggan. Hernandez then told his friend he believed he was "being targeted and being disrespected," Haggan said. In fact, de Abreu and his friends had not left the other club. Haggan said Hernandez later drove around with his frieend until he saw de Abreu, Furtado and others going to their car, then followed them and pulled up alongside their car at a red light.
