TUCSON, Ariz. -- Arizona had a prolonged competition at quarterback and it still may not be over even after Anu Solomon started the opener against BYU.The Wildcats may not have a choice for their home opener against Grambling State on Saturday.Arizona had to practice on a wet field on Wednesday due to storms in the area and Solomon apparently injured his knee. He is listed as questionable on the Wildcats injury report.Even if Solomon can play, Arizona may want to hold him out to avoid risking further injury against an FCS opponent.Arizona coach Rich Rodriguez already said Brandon Dawkins was going to get some playing time against Grambling State and now the sophomore could get much more. There were times I was close to bringing him on Saturday because he does bring a different element, Rodriguez said. I would have liked to get him in there for a few plays ... but going forward will be conscious of that.Solomon had a so-so first game of his junior season, making some plays but also struggling to move Arizonas offense until the fourth quarter. Solomon was sacked four times and held the ball too long at times, finishing 20 of 30 for 213 yards with two interceptions and no TD passes.Dawkins was Arizonas third-string quarterback last season, but flashed glimpses of what hes capable of. He played six games as a freshman, throwing for 334 yards -- 301 against rival Arizona State -- and two touchdowns while rushing for 179 yards and two more scores.Dawkins is more of a running threat than Solomon, so Grambling State not only has to prepare for a talented FBS opponent, but get ready for two styles of quarterbacks. Were going to go at it and try to play as perfect as we can possibly play and let the chips fall where they may, Grambling State coach Broderick Fobbs said. You name it, they have it. Its going to be the best opponent we face this year. Lets be honest. We have to play an A-plus game to have a chance.A few more things to look for when Arizona hosts Grambling State on Saturday night:TIGERS OPENER: The Tigers opened the season against a Division II opponent with expected results. Grambling State racked up 693 yards, including 402 rushing, in blowing out Virginia-Lynchburg 72-12 at home. Fobbs played nearly everyone on the roster in the game and this week will get back top returning receiver Chad Williams, who served a one-game suspension after an offseason arrest. DeVante Kincade started at quarterback in the opener and will get the nod again in Tucson, but Trevon Cherry will play in at least a few series. Both threw a pair of touchdown passes in the opener.DOUBLE PUNTER/KICKERS: Having one player handle both punting and kicking is a rarity in college football these days. Saturdays game will have two punter/kickers. Grambling State senior Jonathan Wallace had a busy day in the opener by handling both duties, making all 10 of his extra-point attempts and averaging 36.3 yards on three punts. Arizona sophomore Josh Pollack averaged 47.5 yards on four punts and made a 46-yard field goal after earlier missing a 52-yarder.WILSONS RETURN: Arizona running back Nick Wilson had a strong return after an injury-plagued 2015 season. The bruising junior started slow against BYU, but got better as the game wore on. He had a 15-yard run in the fourth quarter for Arizonas first touchdown and reeled off a 49-yard scoring run to put Arizona up with 1:26 left. Wilson finished with 138 yards on 17 carries and will be a load for the Tigers to bring down on Saturday. Andy Levitre Jersey . Ryan Garbutt had a goal and two assists as Dallas snapped a six-game losing streak with a 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night. Jalen Collins Jersey . Kiriasis and brakeman Franziska Fritz finished two runs in one minute 55.41 seconds -- a mere 0.01 seconds ahead of Meyers and Lolo Jones, who likely bolstered her Olympic hopes by helping give USA-1 a huge push in the second heat. http://www.falconsauthenticofficialonline.com/authentic-takkarist-mckinley-jersey.html .4 million title. Ryan Riess emerged with the title after a session in which he started behind, but used expert skill to gather the chips to his side amid the unpredictability of no-limit Texas Hold em. Riess put his final opponent Jay Farber all-in with an Ace-King. Sean Harlow Jersey .com) - Christian Ponder will get another chance to prove himself for the Minnesota Vikings, with head coach Leslie Frazier announcing Wednesday that the struggling quarterback will start this weekends game against the Green Bay Packers. Grady Jarrett Jersey . The nimble-footed quarterback got his wish, dashing through the snow and a weary defence all the way into the NCAA record book. When a defense slips significantly coaches frequently refer to it as slippage.Lately, the Brooklyn Nets have used the term frequently when discussing their many defensive ailments.Practice time has been limited but the Nets will have had two days to see if drills carry over into a game setting Wednesday night when they host the Boston Celtics and attempt to end an ugly four-game losing streak. Were plugging holes right now defensively, leaking in different places, coach Kenny Atkinson said. Were going to have to regroup, get some practice time, get some film time, get our principles back. I keep talking about slippage. Weve slipped.Brooklyn is allowing 113.3 points per game overall but in this skid, the Nets have allowed 126.2 points per game and no fewer than 27 points in the 12 quarters. Besides the points, the Nets allowed opponents to shoot at least 50 percent in three of those games and are among the worst defensive teams in shooting percentage and other areas. Its been consistent for the past four games. Its just different teams, but weve been the same, center Brook Lopez said. A lot of its the same. Its not any one person, glaringly obvious. Its just team-wide, whatever it is. I dont think you can fault our effort or energy. ... Its a team-wide situation we need to figure out.The slippage has resulted in Brooklyn allowing at least 120 points in four straight games for the fifth time in its NBA history. The last occurrence was Jan. 30-Feb. 4, 1990, when the New Jersey Nets allowed an average of 123 points in losses at Phoenix, Denver, Golden State and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Nets also have allowed 120 points or more in five games this season. It is two shy of last years total when the Nets ranked 24th in points allowed per game and 29th in defensive rating and one shy of the 2014-15 total, though three of those games reached overtime.Compounding the sub-par defense is inconsistent offense. While the Nets are among the leaders in possessions (102.2) per game, they have an offensive rating (104.1) that is in the bottom 10th of the league. It is because the Nets are shooting 44 percent overall and 32.5 percent from 3-point rrange, numbers that place them in the bottom third of the league.ddddddddddddThe latest inconsistency on offense occurred during Sundays 129-109 loss to the Portland Trail Blazers. Lopez made his first seven shots when the Nets scored 64 points in the first half but Brooklyn shot 26 percent in the second half.Meanwhile, the Celtics have won two in a row after rallying from 15 down for Mondays 99-93 victory at Minnesota.Isaiah Thomas scored 20 points for the 13th time by totaling nine of his 29 in the final five minutes. Al Horford scored 20 points after getting the game-winner Saturday at Detroit and has 38 points since returning from missing nine games with a concussion. The Celtics lost five times in Horfords absence but it gave coach Brad Stevens an opportunity to look at his depth. It was on display Monday when the Celtics received 16 of their 31 bench points in the fourth quarter.Boston scored 17 straight points to open the fourth when reserve Terry Rozier scored eight of his 12 points. When we get in, we got to either pick up where the first team left off or we got to even play harder than that, Rozier said. We had a team meeting not too long ago and thats one of the things we said. When we got in there, we just play hard. A lot of credit goes to Al, too, working hard. Just a lot of things, everything worked in our favor once we played hard. The one negative from Monday was Jae Crowder sitting out the final 16 minutes with left ankle pain. It is the same injury that kept him out for eight games and he might sit out Wednesday. If Crowder sits, Marcus Smart could get the start.Smart averaged 10 points in Crowders place and also was credited for sparking Bostons comeback by calling the team out for lack of effort at the end of the third.Really it all started at the end of the third, Marcus Smart calling out all of us, Horford told reporters. The Celtics took the first meeting on Oct. 26 in Boston when Thomas had 25 points and nine assists in a 122-117 win. Boston has won six of the last nine meetings.
