CHICAGO (AP) — The signature stars came through again for the Chicago Blackhawks.Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane scored in a shootout to send Chicago to a 3-2 victory over the Islanders that ended New York’s five-game winning streak Tuesday night.Toews scored on a backhander and Kane beat Robin Lehner between the pads after nearly pulling to a stop. But the duo delivered big-time when needed against surging New York.“Well, we got our confidence,” Toews said. “We’re relaxed.“It’s nice for us to be able to make a big difference for our team right now.For a long time it was almost not a great feeling.”Lehner, who stopped 38 shots through overtime, wasn’t surprised that Toews and Kane rose to the occasion in the tiebreaker.“They were really good today,” Lehner said. “They’re world-class players. They’ve always been.“We’ve played some really good hockey lately and maybe it was a bit of an off night, but we still found a way to get a point.”Chicago’s Dylan Strome also had a power-play goal, connecting during a 5-on-3 advantage at 6:05 of the second period to end the Islanders’ shutout streak at 158 minutes, 58 seconds.Ward stopped 34 shots through overtime. Alex DeBrincat had two assists to help Chicago’s power play connect for the ninth straight game.“Guys are making a lot of plays. It’s fun, fun to watch,” coach Jeremy Colliton said. “They’re making great reads and just being clean with the puck.”Valtteri Filppula and Barzal scored in regulation as the Metropolitan Division-leading Islanders lost for just the third time in 15 games.“We wanted to have a little bit better game Phil Kessel Jersey ,” coach Barry Trotz said. “Kane and Toews are playing at the elite level right now.”Lehner was busy in this one as the Islanders, who entered with NHL’s lowest goals-against average, allowed more than two for the first time in seven games, since a 4-3 win over the Rangers on Jan. 10.New York came into the game off two straight shutouts — one by Lehner and one by Thomas Greiss — and hadn’t allowed a goal since New Jersey’s Andy Greene beat Lehner at 7:07 of the third period in a 4-1 Islanders win last Thursday. New York allowed 40 shots after giving up just 19 in each of its previous two games.Filppula opened the scoring 2:19 in from a faceoff in the Chicago zone. That helped a lot and then Cave’s line really got wheeling and that was a good sign. We started to get juice in the second period, but we were running on fumes at the start.”Chris Tierney and Mark Borowiecki scored for the Senators, who lost their sixth straight, and Craig Anderson stopped 22 shots in his ninth straight defeat. Ottawa was coming off a 7-2 loss to Washington in which it looked overmatched, but the Senators gave a more consistent effort in their latest defeat.“We know we can have that effort every night and if we bring that day in, day out for the rest of the season we’ll be just fine Dougie Hamilton Jersey Womens ,” Colin White said. “Sometimes it’s tough, but to come back and work even harder after that kind of game shows a lot about us.”White believed he had tied the game with Ottawa trailing 3-2 in the third period, but the goal was called off because of a high stick. White knocked the puck down and then scored.“(Officials) said it was a judgment call,” Ottawa coach Guy Boucher said. “If you call it a goal then the league can check, but if you don’t call it a goal then you can’t and it stays a judgment call.”It was the first home game for Ottawa since Mark Stone was traded to Vegas, but thanks to McDavid the Senators had one of their biggest crowds of the season.“It was fun, there was good energy,” Borowiecki said. “A lot of blue and orange in warm-ups, but that’s the Connor McDavid Canada tour so it’s going to happen. It was nice to get some support and we appreciate fans coming out and sticking behind us in this tough situation. I know it’s not easy for the city.”Edmonton was up two goals after two periods and took a 3-1 lead 1:46 into the third when Cave took advantage of a giveaway by Christian Jaros for his second of the season.Ottawa made it a one-goal game when Borowiecki scored his first of the season at the seven-minute mark, but Kassian iced it for the Oilers with an empty-net goal.“He’s definitely a guy who’s passionate about scoring, especially in practice, so it’s good to see him get out there and get one http://www.officialsharks.com/authentic-adidas-brent-burns-jersey ,” Anderson said of Borowiecki’s goal.Trailing 1-0, the Oilers tied it in the second when McDavid scored his 33rd of the season. Sometimes it just takes a little break and the offense starts coming.”Edmonton took a 2-1 lead late in the period as Thomas Chabot left Gagner all alone. Gagner took a great pass from Ty Rattie for his fourth of the season.Anderson was busy from the start, making a couple big saves on McDavid early on, but it was the Senators who scored first.Tierney scored his first in 19 games as he came from behind the net, grabbed a loose puck in front and beat Koskinen through the legs.NOTES: Rudolfs Balcers missed the game with an illness, while Christian Wolanin was a healthy scratch for the Senators. … Edmonton scratched Kevin Gravel, Alexander Petrovic and Kyle Brodziak.UP NEXTOilers: Visit Columbus on Saturday.Senators: At league-leading Tampa Bay on Saturday night.
