Conor McGregors historic reign as a simultaneous two-division champion has ended. The UFC announced Saturday that McGregor, who captured Eddie Alvarezs lightweight title by TKO at UFC 205 in New York two weeks ago, has vacated his featherweight title in favor of keeping his 155-pound belt.McGregor (21-3) originally won the UFCs 145-pound title last December when he knocked out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds at UFC 194, but he never defended the belt. McGregor opted for a pair of welterweight fights against Nate Diaz in 2016 before challenging Alvarez on Nov. 12.The announcement means that Aldo (26-2), who defeated Frankie Edgar for the interim title at UFC 200 in July, has been elevated to undisputed featherweight champion.Aldo, the first featherweight champion in UFC history, made seven title defenses before the loss to McGregor. In an act of frustration over not receiving a rematch against McGregor, Aldo asked for his release in September -- one day after the Alvarez-McGregor fight was announced -- claiming he no longer could trust UFC president Dana White. In addition, the new UFC 206 main event on Dec. 10 between Max Holloway and former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis will be contested for the interim featherweight title. The bout replaces a UFC light heavyweight title rematch between Daniel Cormier and Anthony Johnson, which fell apart when Cormier withdrew Friday with a groin injury.McGregor, 28, is expected to take time off from the Octagon to start 2017 as he awaits the birth of his first child. White told the Los Angeles Times earlier this month that McGregor wont fight before May.Hes good. He should take time off, White said. He has been fighting nonstop. Nothing wrong with him taking time off. Its good for him and [girlfriend Dee Devlin], and its good for the baby.McGregor had stated his interest in defending both titles throughout the buildup to UFC 205, going as far as saying at the kickoff news conference that the company would have to gather an army to try and take one of them [belts] off me.Audie Attar, McGregors agent, was asked Tuesday during an appearance on ESPNs Five Rounds podcast whether McGregor would be willing to vacate if forced to by the UFC.Hes a businessman, so he is going to make business decisions, Attar said. No matter what happens, nobody will ever be able to take those belts away from him. Nobody has beat him for those belts. So the way I look at it is, whatever business decision Conor decides to make, its a smart one. We have proven that to date.If a belt is taken or what have you, its figurative. He still keeps that win. Nobody beat him to dethrone him. Womens NMD Shoes Canada .4 million title. ESPN NRL expert Brett Kimmorley looks at round 24 and says alarm bells would be going off at some teams as the pressure intensifies leading into this years finals series.1. Form lines of the top teams are a concern. The Sharks, the Storm and the Cowboys - probably not the best time of year to be in a form slump. The Storm have only lost one game but have been pushed over the past few weeks and are just surviving. I think it is pretty important for those sides, with two games to go after this weekend, to find some form and self-belief because the longer they struggle the more confidence it gives their rivals because they dont fear them as much anymore. Its a huge weekend for these three clubs - Id prefer to be going into the semi-finals in form rather than scraping in if I genuinely think my team is a chance of winning the premiership.I think its huge for the Sharks more than the other two because the Cowboys will have confidence from last years premiership success and the Storm continue to surprise everyone and Craig Bellamy are all experienced in big game football.Cronulla are the only side that havent been around semi-final football too often over the past few years and last year they got a fair spanking in North Queensland so I think re-gaining some confidence is more important for the Sharks than the other two.2.?Panthers and Titans need to keep winning. They both played some wonderful football last weekend - the Penrith second half when they scored 36 unanswered points was amazing football.?Penrith and Gold Coast are full off kids looking for second chances and the fact they are oozing confidence is huge for both sides.dddddddddddd I like the brand of football both these clubs play - they pass the ball around a lot, they back themselves and the best part about it is they wont die wondering.Im looking forward to seeing if they can both go on a bit of a run because I think it will enormous to get to the semi-finals and have eight teams that, on their day, can win the competition. From what I saw from Penrith and what I continually see from Gold Coast - I think they could defy the theory that youve got to be a top four side to win the Grand Final.3. Canberra are the hottest team in the NRL.I really enjoy watching Canberra Raiders because thyre the hottest team of the competition.Theyve beaten team one and team two comfortably, they have the biggest forward pack in the NRL, theyre super-fit and Ricky Stuart has them humming and full of belief.Theyre out of the media spotlight in Canberra too - theyre not going to come under any pressure down there, great halves, Joey Leilua, Jordan Rapana, Jack Wighton and Jarrod Croker is a point-scoring freak.Theyre the real deal on paper and obviously the hottest team in the competition at the moment. Rickys got that passion back, theyre playing a great brand of football, they believe in themselves and its not the bash and barge, five hit-ups and kick to the corner type grinding footy. ' ' '
