ORCHARD PARK Youth Vosean Joseph Jersey , N.Y. (AP) — A week before launching his first pass in a competitive NFL setting, rookie quarterback Josh Allen stood in awe amid a throng of Buffalo Bills fans who were not only chanting his name but also that of his mother.“Mrs. Allen! Mrs. Allen!” they yelled, trying to get the attention of LaVonne Allen, who was standing on New Era Field following a recent practice, watching her son signing countless autographs.“I’m just kind of speechless right now,” Josh Allen said, referring to the attention he and his mother have received since training camp opened three weeks ago.“It’s really cool to feel wanted by the fans,” he added, noting there’s nothing during his playing days at Wyoming that compares to what he’s experienced since arriving in Buffalo. “I’m just trying to be the best quarterback possible. So as long as I’m playing well and improving every day, I will just continue this.”The Bills’ first-round draft pick took his first big step in that process during Buffalo’s 28-23 preseason-opening loss to Carolina on Thursday night.A loud cheer went up following the second-half kickoff, when Allen — in his No. 17 jersey — took the field for the first time. And the buzz grew on the first play, when Allen faked a handoff and effortlessly threw the ball nearly 60 yards only to have receiver Robert Foster catch it just out of bounds along the left sideline.“You have to love that, right?” coach Sean McDermott said of Allen’s first attempt. “I think the fans appreciated that. I appreciated it. We’re out there, these guys are having fun, and I thought it gave the crowd some juice.”It wasn’t, however, lost on McDermott that the pass was one of many that fell incomplete Womens Vosean Joseph Jersey , a reflection of how much Allen still has to develop before being deemed ready to take over as the team’s starter.Allen finished 9 of 19 for 116 yards, and essentially threaded a needle between two defenders by hitting rookie Ray-Ray McCloud III for a 14-yard touchdown pass. There were some errant throws, too, such as the short swing pass to his right that sailed well wide of Foster early in the fourth quarter.“We looked really good at times last night, and then we saw where we still have a lot of work to do, and Josh is no different,” McDermott said Friday. “He’s a young player, who I thought took a step last night. It was a good step in the right direction.”McDermott continues to be ultra-cautious in not wanting to rush Allen’s development. Allen works mostly with the third-string offense, while returning backup Nathan Peterman and free-agent addition A.J. McCarron are splitting time with the starters.“Calculated,” is how McDermott described his approach to Allen. “You can see the arm talent. You can see the special type of player that he could be. But there’s a lot of room for growth between where we are now and where he needs to get to.”The 22-year-old Allen represents a hopeful future for a franchise that appears to be moving on an upward trend. The Bills sneaked into the playoffs on the final day of the season to snap a 17-year playoff drought — the NFL’s longest active streak.Buffalo then traded third-year starter Tyrod Taylor to Cleveland, and moved up five spots to draft Allen seventh overall in a bid to fill a position that has remained unsettled since Hall of Famer Jim Kelly retired after the 1996 season.Give him time, said veteran running back LeSean McCoy, who refers to Allen as “one of my favorites.”“He’s a rookie, but he has a super talent,” McCoy said. “And I think once he gets the bruises of playing a little bit, the lumps, he’ll be fine.”As for the attention Allen has attracted Authentic Vosean Joseph Jersey , McCoy isn’t surprised.“A high draft pick, anywhere you go, it’s like that,” he said. “The thing here is we’ve been waiting for this franchise quarterback. He’s young. A lot of high expectations. I think he could do it. I really do.”Allen is taking it one step at a time, and focused on not allowing the buzz to distract him.“I understand that this comes with it, but I’m completely focused on playing football for the Bills,” he said. “I’m here to compete.”LaVonne Allen is impressed by and grateful for the welcome she and her son have received.“It’s overwhelming, to be honest with you, to see the love and the passion they have for the game and for Josh,” she said. “They seem excited that he’s here. And he’s as excited as they are.”It’s a lot like what happened during Allen’s three-year stint at Wyoming, where two years ago he led the school to its first appearance in the Mountain West championship game.“People are coming up to us left and right and introducing themselves,” LaVonne Allen said. “It feels like Laramie. It feels like home.” Before entering the season, the bye week was always a potential for change. Dan Quinn had come off a bad season, fired all the top coordinators, and took on even more responsibility. There was no one to blame but Quinn if the changes did not pay off. In fact, the existence of former head coaches Dirk Koetter, Raheem Morris Vosean Joseph Jersey Boys , and Mike Mularkey give the team a backup option in case of disaster.Well, disaster is here.Ian Rapoport reports that, as you may have assumed, Arthur Blank is considering firing Quinn at the bye week.Blank has been skeptical of in-season changes since the Bobby Petrino debacle created a lasting disarray. However, that was over a decade ago and Blank is certainly getting tired of watching his top players wasted.Quinn has an uphill battle. Today he is on the road against the Arizona Cardinals, then faces the seemingly unstoppable Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks at home. Today is his only clear chance at a win. Per Rapsheet, there will be “some serious discussions” regarding Quinn if he can’t do much the next three weeks.Blank will certainly also be looking at the Washington Redskins. If that team can battle back after firing Jay Gruden, maybe the Falcons could salvage the season. Before Mike Smith was ultimately fired, there were similar rumors that Smith could save his job by making the playoffs. The Falcons, of course, imploded against the Carolina Panthers instead. This feels similar, except these Falcons have performed so much worse than Smith’s 2014 squad. The potential structure is still to be determined as there is no defensive coordinator. Morris has been with the team the longest and has experience on both sides of the ball. For better or worse, Koetter will likely remain the offensive coordinator. Perhaps he will be given the freedom to run his own scheme instead of this Kyle Shanahan-esque hybrid without any identity. The most likely defensive coordinator is probably senior assistant Bob Sutton, defensive passing game coordinator Jerome Henderson, or linebackers coach Jeff Ulbrich. Henderson and Ulbrich have been with the team since Quinn was hired, while Sutton was recently hired to manage game-day decisions. The message here is clear to Quinn: Win now or get fired.
in uniform when Monday night’s game against the New York Giants kicked off. That total dwindled to two when Alshon Jeffery left the game with a non-contact injury in the second quarter. Then it was cut to just one when J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was forced off the field in overtime. The solution? Zach Ertz was deputized to fill in as the Eagles chased a needed victory over the Giants.“The offense Men Dexter Lawrence Jersey , we just banded together,” Ertz said in an interview with the NFL Network after the game. “I mean, I was playing receiver at the end of the game cause we didn’t have any more bodies. So we just had to find a way.”It’s not a foreign concept for Ertz to line up detached from the end of the line of scrimmage. However, it is a bit of an on-the-fly ask for Ertz to handle routes and assignments usually prescribed for other individuals in the Eagles’ offense.“Luckily I’ve been in this offense for four years now and so I’ve kind of learned every spot,” Ertz said. “It was only a few plays that I had to be out there at receiver and we just found a way to get it done. We never doubted each other. We never pointed fingers. I’m really proud of this team.”Ertz and fellow tight ends Dallas Goedert and Joshua Perkins were all needed in the final drives for Philadelphia. Ertz’s game-winning touchdown catch came with him initially aligned wide to the right side of the offense before motioning to a position closer to the line of scrimmage. He was then left completely uncovered for the 2-yard score to give the Eagles the win.Nelson Agholor was out for the night with a knee injury and inactive. However, three receivers is still an awfully thin margin to have at that position for a game. The Eagles had that reality reinforced as their top tight end had to plug a hole in overtime Monday night. every now and then by pulling out one of his notebooks from his junior and senior years at Brown University. The New England Patriots fullback flips through a few pages James Develin Jersey , shakes his head and can barely recognize what he scribbled on them on his way to earning a degree in mechanical engineering in 2010.“It’s just like looking at a whole different language,” Develin said with a big smile at the Patriots’ team hotel Wednesday. “I have no idea the stuff I did.”That’s because the 30-year-old Develin has been fully focused on football the past nine years. More specifically, as the bruising, bulldozing fullback who smashes holes through defensive lines and powers the way for the Patriots’ running game.“You’ve just got to be tough, got to be nasty, got to be physical,” running back James White said. “And he’s all of that.”Develin is a bit of an anomaly in today’s NFL, playing a position that doesn’t even exist on many teams. Only 14 of 32 squads regularly lined up a fullback — something that would have been unheard of up until a handful of years ago as two-back sets were common for decades. With a shift to faster, spread-out offenses, the need for a big bopper in the backfield has dwindled.Except in places such as New England, which has used Develin on 68 snaps this postseason — a number that could represent a whole regular season’s worth for some of today’s fullbacks.“I think the fullback position has always kind of got the moniker that it’s a dying breed, that it’s kind of on its way out, but I think football is such a matchup game and things work so cyclically,” Develin said. “As defenses get smaller and try to stop the passing attack Womens LaAdrian Waddle Jersey , it kind of leaves them susceptible to, with lighter, faster guys on the field, for a power running game.“I think there’s always going to be a legitimate use for a fullback and I’m just happy to be out there doing what I do.”What Develin, who can squat 670 pounds and bench press 500, does isn’t always seen in the game stats. Taking on defensive linemen and blitzing linebackers looking to blow up plays in the backfield is the fullback’s responsibility. For Develin, that means bursting open holes for the likes of White, Sony Michel and Rex Burkhead. He thinks of himself as the “bodyguard” for the running backs.“He’s definitely our protector out there,” White said with a laugh. On the AFC championship-clinching 2-yard TD run by Burkhead, it was Develin who made a terrific block to clear things in front of him.“I want to be the hammer,” Develin said. “Not the nail.”That’s how it is during most games for the 6-foot-3, 255-pound bruiser. He has 13 career regular-season carries for 23 yards and five touchdowns, including four this season. Develin also set a career best with 12 catches for 61 yards. He has two rushes for 5 yards in the playoffs this year, and a 9-yard catch http://www.patriotslockerroom.com/authentic-malcolm-mitchell-jersey , all while setting the tone for a Patriots running game that has averaged 165.5 yards this postseason — second only to New England’s Super Bowl opponent, the Los Angeles Rams (175.0).Not bad for Develin, who didn’t exactly take a direct route to get here.He was a defensive lineman in college, racking up 15 sacks in four years while earning that Ivy League education. But he went undrafted and began lining up interviews for jobs as an engineer before insisting on giving football a final try.He had a few tryouts with NFL teams, but was told he wasn’t fast enough or flat-out good enough to make it as a pro. He played one game for the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of the Arena Football League.“I never thought I’d abandon it,” Develin said. “This is a dream of mine. You know, I love the game of football and I was willing to do whatever it took to make it my livelihood. I never took no for an answer and just kept chugging away, no matter how many doors were slammed in my face. I just kept on going and working as hard as I possibly could and knew that the cards would eventually fall my way.”Develin decided to give a switch to fullback a try, and got an opportunity with the Florida Tuskers of the United Football League in 2010. He showed enough to land a spot on Cincinnati’s practice squad later that year, and was reunited with his former Tuskers coach in 2011 when Jay Gruden became the Bengals’ offensive coordinator. The following year, Develin was one of Cincinnati’s final cuts out of training camp. Then came a call from the Patriots — and he has been a valuable piece of the Tom Brady-led offense since.“He does so much for us,” Patriots center David Andrews said. “He’s such a dependable football player. He’s a tough football player. He adds that extra pressure to the defense and that extra toughness to our football team.”So, Develin will keep pounding defenders for now. And, maybe one day after his football career is long over Dwayne Allen Jersey , he’ll hit the books again.“I thought an engineering degree was a pretty good thing to have in my back pocket, so I went out there and got it done,” he said. “Then, I just followed my first dream, which was football, and it all worked out.” Vote on the winners of the Sweet 16 matchups in the Brady and Gronk Regions!"WhitePatriots News Opinion and Analysis Contribute! as a byproduct of practicing against defensive coordinator Gregg Williams this summer Womens Wayne Chrebet Jersey , but that’s not the only avenue Darnold is using in an effort to make strides heading into his second season.Like many other quarterbacks, Darnold has organized throwing sessions with his teammates to fill the time between the end of the offseason program and the start of training camp. He signed a three-year contract with Tampa Bay as a free agent last offseason, but struggled as he missed four of his 15 field-goal attempts and four of his extra points. He rebounded after signing with Carolina late in the season to replace the injured Graham Gano, making all five of his field-goal tries and going 7 of 8 on extra points. The 28-year-old Catanzaro spent his first three NFL seasons with Arizona and has a career field-goal percentage of 83.8. In his lone season with the Jets, he was 25 of 30 on field goals and made all 29 of his extra-point tries.Myers became the first Jets kicker to make the Pro Bowl last season after making an NFL-record five field goals of at least 55 yards, but New York opted to not re-sign him. He signed a four-year deal with Seattle on Wednesday. The Jets also officially announced the signings of linebacker C.J. what appeared to be a pretty significant blow to an already depleted unit when it was reported that nickel CB Mackensie Alexander suffered a dislocated elbow.Fortunately for the Vikings Replica Armon Watts Jersey , they received some good news on that front today:The worst case scenario was surgery, and a good possibility of season ending IR. For a unit that’s still awaiting Mike Hughes to return while riding out another seven games of the Holton Hill suspension, this originally looked like a really bad injury. As Pelissero said, the Vikings haven’t given any timetable for a return, so we’ll have to wait to see what the team and the daily injury reports say. Favre was 35 at the time Rodgers was selected and the team really didn’t need a quarterback in 2005.Three years later Packers fans were severely divided when the veteran reneged on retirement and Thompson was under immense pressure to welcome the legend back with open arms. Ever steady at the wheel, he chose to stand behind his young and unproven signal caller and sent Favre to the New York Jets.Favre would later join the Minnesota Vikings in an alleged attempt to “stick it” to Thompson, but the GM got the ultimate comeuppance when the Packers swept Favre’s Vikings in 2010 en route to the Super Bowl XLV title. The Packers would remain in contention for the rest of Thompson’s tenure, though some poor draft classes in the final years and some reluctance to sign veteran free agents may have held the team back a bit as the game began to pass Thompson by.There’s more on Thompson’s time in Green Bay plus what the Packers can expect from their second first round pick in today’s cheese curds.Ted Thompson made the right calls, right away—Packers.comWith a bunch of noise coming at him from every direction, Thompson stayed true to himself and provided steady guidance to a franchise that was in transition. The drive ate up over six minutes of clock and the Green Bay Packers’ switch from Dom Capers to Mike Pettine didn’t appear to change much at all. Tackling was shoddy. Assignments weren’t sure. Coverage was soft and Green Bay’s defense was once again in read-and-react mode, rather than coming downhill to attack a young quarterback in a new offense. But Pettine had a plan. Before the season, Mike McCarthy’s new hire to run the defense insisted that the top way to get beat is to give up plays in the passing game. As such, his priority was to mitigate opposing aerial attacks. With Oren Burks and Josh Jones sidelined with injuries Kevin King Jersey , Pettine did something Dom Capers often drew criticism for doing: he went small and essentially decided he’d live with the other team running the ball. The problem for Capers was his defenses couldn’t stop anyone through the air consistently either. On Sunday night, Pettine played light boxes, often with four cornerbacks on the field and only one true linebacker, daring the Bears to run the ball. And run it Matt Nagy did, to the tune of 139 yards on 27 carries, a 5.1 per attempt average. Compare that to Mitch Trubisky’s numbers: he finished 23/35 for 171 yards, just 4.9 yards per attempt.Pettine rightly realizes the passing game gets teams beat quicker and more efficiently than the run game. If teams want to run the ball and take up small chunks, he’s going to bet his team can get enough stops on early downs to put opponents in second- and third-and-long situations. It worked against the Bears. After starting with a touchdown and a field goal, the Bears’ next 6 possessions looked like this:3 plays 4 yards 4 plays -3 yards 3 plays 5 yards 12 plays 60 yards FG 3 plays 8 yards 3 plays 9 yardsThe one real blemish for the defense after the early struggles was the Bears second-to-last possession Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey White , where they got the ball with nine minutes left and didn’t give it up until just under three minutes left. Even still, the Packers forced a number of third downs that the Bears converted with Trubisky scrambles and some outside-the-framework plays. That’s going to happen for a team playing man coverage as often as the Packers. Some conservative playcalling killed the Bears as well, but the Green Bay defense made the plays it had to and when it needed to defend a pass, by and large it did that. Pettine set up his defense that way. The core four defensive back starters — Kevin King, Tramon Williams, HaHa Clinton-Dix, and Kentrell Brice — played every snap. Jaire Alexander played 70% of snaps with Josh Jackson in on 66%. In other words, more often than not, the Packers put four cornerbacks on the field Womens Corey Linsley Jersey , treating Trey Burton and Tarik Cohen as de facto receivers. Meanwhile, third safety Jermaine Whitehead played just 36% of snaps and Antonio Morrison was essentially an afterthought.Pettine’s gambit paid off. Trey Burton caught just one of his six targets for 15 yards. Cohen managed just 16 yards on three catches. Allen Robinson was the only player with more than one catch to average double-digit yards per reception (The Packers had four such receivers). When the Bears did make catches, this defense rallied to the ball and came up with a number of stops before the sticks. Was this tact a reaction to injuries? Fear of Burton and Cohen? Or is this the way Pettine plays to approach offenses? The answer may be a mixture of these and based on what we know about Pettine, his gameplan will change week to week. Most fans won’t complain about getting exciting rookies like Alexander and Jackson opportunities to make play. Is this the new normal for the Packers? We won’t for at least a week. Bring on the Vikings.

CINCINNATI (AP)Andy Dalton hasn’t seen this much change in the Bengals’ offense since his rookie season. He’s expecting even more when the NFL draft begins on Thursday. For the second straight year, the Bengals need a lot of help on offense. They chose receiver John Ross and running back Joe Mixon with their first two picks last season, hoping to inject big plays into an offense that had declined.Instead, things got even worse – Cincinnati finished last in the league in offense for the first time in its history.Offensive coordinator Bill Lazor has been given a free hand to overhaul the offense, and the Bengals are expected to put a heavy accent on it during the draft.”That’s one of the big things that we’re trying to do here: Start from scratch, make things feel new Corey Bojorquez Jersey ,” Dalton said.”There are a lot of new faces and coaches, a couple new players, and I think we have more coming in the next couple of weeks. Things feel new, and that’s a good thing.”What we’ve done in the last couple of years wasn’t good enough, and so we’ve got to do things a different way.”There are new coordinators on offense and defense, although head coach Marvin Lewis was retained and given a two-year contract extension that provide more chances to get his elusive first playoff win. The Bengals started a youth movement last season and it didn’t go smoothly, especially on the offense.Unlike previous years when the Bengals could draft from a long-term perspective Womens Adolphus Washington Jersey , they’ll be thinking about immediate impacts from its top picks. Some things to watch with the Bengals’ draft:OH!-LINEThe offensive line was the biggest factor in Cincinnati’s fall to the bottom of the league. The Bengals let left tackle Andrew Whitworth and right guard Kevin Zeitler leave as free agents, and the line fell apart. In this offseason, center Russell Bodine signed a two-year deal with Buffalo, creating another hole. They’ve begun addressing the problem through the draft already, trading with the Bills for left tackle Cordy Glenn. The teams swapped first-round picks, with Buffalo moving up to No. 12 and Cincinnati sliding to 21st overall. They need more help in the draft.ANOTHER QB?The Bengals took AJ McCarron in the fifth round in 2014, hoping to acquire a reliable backup for Dalton. The move worked well – McCarron took over when Dalton broke the thumb on his passing hand in 2015 and led the Bengals into the playoffs. McCarron left for Buffalo as a free agent Youth Harrison Phillips Jerseys , and the Bengals signed Matt Barkley to a two-year deal, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they considered a quarterback in the fifth round again.LINEBACKER DAZEVontaze Burfict is suspended for the first four games of the season – the third year in a row that he’s serving punishment from the NFL. As long as he’s around, there will be a need for depth at that position. Burfict has missed the start of each of the past four seasons because of injury or suspensions.HITS, MISSES AND BARGAINSThe Bengals haven’t gotten much from the offensive players taken in the opening rounds the past three years. They chose offensive tackles Cedric Ogbuehi and Jake Fisher in the first two rounds in 2015. Ogbuehi has struggled to keep a spot, and Fisher had a procedure for an irregular heartbeat last year. Receiver Tyler Boyd – a second-round pick in 2016 – managed only 22 caches in 10 games in 2017. Last year, Ross had shoulder surgery that limited him at the start of training camp and wound up with only one carry – he fumbled – and no receptions before another shoulder injury ended his season. Mixon started seven games and finished with 626 yards and a 3.5-yard average.—

Kind of happened the last play of the Eagles game and I don’t know http://www.giantslockerroom.com/authentic-evan-engram-jersey , whatever you want to call it, whatever did it and it’s kind of ever since then been lingering around. I just kind of played through it and then it’s just aggravated, so we just went in, took some looks, get some tests Patrick Omameh Jersey , want to see exactly what was going on.”Beckham sustained the injury when he was leg-whipped on the final play against the Philadelphia Eagles more than two weeks ago. He played the following week against the Chicago Bears, but showed up on the injury report late last week and was held out of Sunday’s game against the Washington Redskins.Beckham practiced on a limited basis on Wednesday, participating only in individual drills. The injury has been referred to as a bruise. At this point, though, you begin to wonder if it isn’t something more severe than that. And if perhaps the reports that wide receiver Cody Latimer could be activated from IR next week might be protection for the Beckham situation. The Giants designated running back Jonathan Stewart for return from injured reserve in mid-November and they had three weeks to decide whether to put him back on the active roster. That window closed on Thursday and head coach Pat Shurmur said on Thursday morning that Stewart’s return from a foot injury was unlikely. That became official in the afternoon Womens Dalvin Tomlinson Jersey , so Stewart will remain on injured reserve for the rest of the season.Teams are allowed to bring two players back from injured reserve in a season. The Giants have also designated wide receiver Cody Latimer for return.Stewart had six carries for 17 yards in three appearances this season. He signed a two-year deal with the Giants in the offseason and it’s a good bet that he won’t see year two as the Giants can save $2.625 million in cap space if they move on without Stewart.
Monday Cris Carter Jersey , the Bills offensive coordinator even managed to crack a joke. When asked about rookie quarterback Josh Allen leaping over Vikings linebacker Anthony Barr to avoid an open-field tackle and gain a first down on a 10-yard scramble a day earlier, Daboll feigned surprise by questioning whether reporters pay attention during practice."You guys are out to practice, right? We spend five minutes on hurdling and the other five minutes on footwork," he said, before referring to quarterbacks coach David Culley. "We have David stand out there, and Josh makes a leap."Daboll was joking, of course. And yet the play in question, which extended a drive Allen capped with a 1-yard touchdown run to put Buffalo up 24-0, was symbolic of the Bills suddenly having a jump in their step following a 27-6 win over the Minnesota Vikings.Allen, the rookie first-round draft pick, overcame several hurdles by having a hand in all three touchdowns (one passing, two rushing) in winning his first game Chris Doleman Jersey , and on the road, no less. The Bills, meanwhile, overcame two mostly dreadful losses and extremely low expectations as 16陆-point underdogs to improve to 1-2 .And even Buffalo's porous defense rebounded by limiting the Vikings to 14 yards rushing, matching the second-fewest in team history. The Bills also forced three takeaways, generated four sacks and halted a two-game stretch in which they allowed 78 points, starting with a 47-3 season-opening rout at Baltimore.Encouraging as it might be, coach Sean McDermott preferred tapping the breaks in suggesting his still very young team has plenty to work on in preparing to play at the Green Bay Packers (1-1-1) on Sunday. It's difficult to determine, yet, whether the Bills are the team outscored by a combined 75-9 through the first six quarters of the season, or the one outscoring opponents by a combined 41-9 over the past six."When you look at the last six quarters, the way they've been able to play Chuck Foreman Jersey , I think it says a lot about the group," McDermott said. "But we're still not where we need to be. We're not a finished product, and we understand that."As for Allen vaulting Barr, McDermott was pleased in seeing his quarterback's competitiveness, and relieved he didn't get hurt."I'm not going to take that away from him, but there's a time and place for it as well," McDermott said. "The part I like about it was he was decisive, and you don't always see that with young players."Allen provided an immediate spark by going 15 of 22 for 196 yards passing and adding 39 yards rushing. On the downside, the 22-year-old still experienced a few miscues in fumbling the ball three times, with each recovered by the Bills.Buffalo's running attack gained a season-best 128 yards despite missing LeSean McCoy, who was sidelined by a rib cartilage injury. The biggest takeaway for Buffalo was the play of its defense. Each of the Vikings' first two drives ended with Kirk Cousins losing a fumble while being sacked, and led to the Bills scoring 10 points to build a 17-0 lead 10 minutes into the game. That's a big turnaround from a 31-20 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers a week earlier. Buffalo allowed the Chargers to score touchdowns on four consecutive drives in the first half Paul Krause Jersey , which led to McDermott taking over the defensive play-calling duties from coordinator Leslie Frazier in the second half.Frazier regained the play-calling duties and wound up earning a game ball in a win against a Vikings team he previously coached."Although we were struggling statistically, in my own mind I felt like there were some remedies," Frazier said. "You've just got to be patient and handle what you need to handle."NOTES: McDermott listed McCoy as day to day, while DE Shaq Lawson is expected to return to practice this week after missing two games with a hamstring injury. ... Our friend Bill Barnwell echoes those sentiments in his recent piece on ESPN ranking the offensive “arsenals” in the National Football League from best to worst.Minnesota’s offensive personnel checks in on this year’s list at the same spot they did on last year’s, at #5 in the NFL. Here’s what he had to say about them:First off, I didn’t realize that about Thielen’s receiving yardage. . .though I probably should have. . .but Barnwell is right. Here’s what Thielen has done every year in terms of receiving yardage:2014: 137 yards2015: 144 yards (a small increase Fran Tarkenton Jersey , but an increase nonetheless)2016: 967 yards2017: 1,276 yards2018: 1,373 yardsHe’s capable of doing it again, but it’s going to take a heck of a performance to make that happen. I thought that Diggs had increased his total each year as well, but he actually had less yardage in 2017 than he did in 2016, so that’s not the case. While Barnwell admits that his rankings do lean heavily towards wide receivers, saying as much in the introduction to the piece, I can’t help but think that the Vikings’ spot in these rankings could fall. . .or even rise. . .based on the health of Dalvin Cook. I know that’s something that we’ve been preaching all offseason to this point, but it can’t be overemphasized. This offense is just different with Dalvin Cook lining up next to or behind Kirk Cousins. We don’t know if Alexander Mattison is capable of carrying the load in the Minnesota backfield. But, with all due respect to him and his abilities, I’d rather we wait a while to find out.We know that the Vikings have the talent to make a run in 2019. Are they going to be able to get it done? I damn sure hope so.
FLORHAM PARK Bilal Powell Jerseys 2019 , N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets have signed former Texans tight end Ryan Griffin. The move Monday adds depth to a spot at which the team will be a bit short-handed when the regular season begins. Second-year tight end Chris Herndon was suspended by the NFL for four games for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.New York also has veterans Eric Tomlinson and Daniel Brown, and rookie Trevon Wesco at the position, but all three are known primarily for their blocking skills.Griffin had 136 catches for 1,491 yards and seven touchdowns in six seasons with Houston after being a sixth-round draft pick out of UConn in 2013. He had 24 receptions for 305 yards in 14 games last season, but was released in May.Griffin faced some legal issues in Tennessee in April when Nashville Police say they arrested him for drunkenly punching out a front window of a downtown hotel. Charges of vandalism and public intoxication were later dismissed. Hello? Is this thing on?Well, in each of their games this season, the New York Jets have had moments during which their sideline headsets briefly malfunctioned."It's been three games, and I'm not making excuses, but three times our headsets failed us," offensive coordinator Jeremy Bates said Thursday. "Not throwing anyone under the bus White Trevor Siemian Jerseys , but the button stopped working. We've tried to correct it."Bates stands on the sideline during games while calling plays and sending them through headsets to quarterback Sam Darnold. When the headsets fail, Darnold can't hear anything from Bates."Obviously, we understand that that can happen anytime," Bates said, "especially in New England."That drew a few chuckles from reporters, of course. The Patriots were accused by some teams — and, ultimately, cleared — a few years ago of tampering with headsets at Gillette Stadium. But, it has been an occasional issue over the years for teams in stadiums around the NFL, where they experience interruptions in their headsets. Electrical systems and inclement weather are the most common culprits. The Jets have had to work around those issues at Detroit Trevor Siemian Jerseys 2019 , at home against Miami and at Cleveland."We've come up with a system and we tried that system in Cleveland and we had to call a timeout," Bates said. "So, we are still growing with that. But as far as the communication with Sam, he's extremely bright, he can spit out the plays."There are certain situations where we have wristbands when the plays are a little bit longer. So, we do that, we do a little bit of both. As far as getting in and out of the huddle, I think it's been good execution."Bates said the Jets test their headset equipment before every game, but the technology simply fails sometimes. There will be frustrating moments of static radio interference and others when there's nothing at all on either end."I've always said that it's amazing," Bates said. "I don't know how to do it Color Rush Trevon Wesco Jersey , but I guess you can FaceTime people in China, but our headsets go out."Jets coach Todd Bowles acknowledged that there have been technical difficulties this season, but it's nothing new."I mean, it's part of the game," he said. "It happens every year. There's quite a few games that it happens in, so that's something you have to adjust. That's why you go over signals all the time, and you kind of move on from there. That's part of technology. It's going to be around for a long time, so that's not a big deal. We just adjust and move on."If one team's entire headset system goes out for an extended period of time, the other team has its headsets turned off, too Youth Trevon Wesco Jersey , so that neither has an advantage."It's got to be out consistently," Bowles said. "But if one guy goes out and it sputters, you just move on and you play. You don't waste timeouts doing that."Aside from the occasional technology-related communication issues, Bates has been mostly happy with the way his rookie quarterback has performed to start his career.Darnold has been solid at times and shaky at others, which is to be expected. He mentioned that he needs to be more decisive with his reads, something with which Bates agreed."We've got to go through our progression fast, we've got to believe in it and he's going to continue to do that," Bates said. "Obviously, he's still young, but when he believes in his progression and he believes in his stroke Womens Trevon Wesco Jersey , good things happen. We are going to continue to work on that. He's going to work on that this week, he's going to work on it next week and he's going to work on it the rest of his career. You can always play faster, no matter what year you are."Darnold began his NFL career by playing three games in 11 days, which is certainly a tough task. He has three touchdown passes and five interceptions, and his 72.0 quarterback rating ranks him 28th in the league. But by no means does Bates think expectations should be lowered for Darnold and the rest of the Jets' offense because the 21-year-old QB is still feeling his way through things."Absolutely not," Bates said. "Everyone is in the National Football League. This is a professional business, and he would say the same. He expects a lot out of himself and so do we."NOTES: WR Terrelle Pryor was added to the injury report after tweaking his groin during practice. Bowles characterized it as "sore," but wouldn't elaborate. ... TE Neal Sterling (concussion) and WR Charone Peake (hamstring) didn't practice. ... OLB Josh Martin was a full participant for the first time since suffering a concussion in the Jets' third preseason game. ... S Marcus Maye (ankle/foot), CB Buster Skrine (knee) and S Doug Middleton (knee/finger) were limited.
EAGAN Womens Laquon Treadwell Jersey , Minn. — Thanks to Adam Thielen, Minnesota’s record book has already needed several revisions this year.Just past the midpoint of the schedule for the Vikings, Thielen leads the NFL in receptions (78) at a pace that would fall four short of the all-time single-season mark (143). He leads the league with 947 yards. That would break the record for receptions by a pair of teammates, set in 1995 by Herman Moore and Brett Perriman for Detroit with 231.Opposing defenses are naturally less likely to apply double coverage on Thielen when Diggs is in a pattern at the same time, as evidenced by contrast in a victory over the Lions last week. With Diggs sidelined by a rib injury, Thielen didn’t have much space. He used one of his textbook double moves to beat cornerback Nevin Lawson for a short touchdown, his seventh of the year, but he finished with only 22 yards for his lowest total since the 2016 season. The mutual benefit of this dominant wide receiver duo, though, began on the practice field years ago.“We’re always competing, we’re always having fun Linval Joseph Jersey , and we’re always giving each a hard time if we’re not performing at the level we know we can,” Thielen said.If Thielen makes a catch in practice, Diggs will often make it a point to create even more separation from the defender the next time he’s assigned to run the same route. That, in turn, frequently triggers playful yet spirited banter between the two.7<button class="view-gallery">View Gallery</button> Gallery:Upon Further Review: Vikings vs. LionsBrad Rempel-USA TODAY Sports | Brad Rempel“He’s my brother. He’s a guy I love messing with, love having fun with,” Thielen said. “He’s even one of my best friends.”At a position that has long produced some of the NFL’s biggest personalities, in some cases breeding a disruptive brand of selfish and boorish behavior, Thielen and Diggs are the anti-divas. Part of that is a product of their route, no pun intended, to the league.Thielen was the NCAA Division II player who went undrafted and needed a rookie tryout camp to make the team five years ago. He didn’t become a full-time starter until 2016. Diggs was the fifth-round draft pick who was a healthy scratch for his first three NFL games in 2015.“All the cute stuff, like records being broken and stuff like that, you like it and it’s good to hear, but we always want to win,” Diggs said. “We worry about the win column more than anything. So to see good things happen? Yes, it’s exciting. Yes, you congratulate your guys, because guys work extremely hard, you know? So it’s always good stuff http://www.thevikingslockerroom.com/authentic-jarius-wright-jersey , and it’s good stuff moving in the right direction, but we want to win.”The Vikings (5-3-1) have been doing that more lately after a rough first quarter of the season, entering their bye week a step behind Chicago (5-3) in the NFC North, with a prime-time matchup with the Bears up next on Nov. 18.Cousins has been as advertised, ranking in the top 10 in the league in most of the passing categories, including third in completion percentage despite being prone to a costly turnover here and there. The offensive line has again shown vulnerabilities, though, and the Vikings have averaged the fourth-fewest rushing yards in the league.Thielen and Diggs have been all the more valuable to the Vikings this fall, with an assist by new offensive coordinator John DeFilippo for aggressive and creative play calling that has helped spring them open so much.“He uses his playmakers, and he just lets them play. So I admire that, and I appreciate that,” Diggs said. “As a player you just want to do the best that you can, and it’s good that he plays to your strengths.”The defense, which led the NFL in fewest yards and points allowed last year, was surprisingly one of the biggest problems in September. After that humbling loss in Los Angeles to the Rams dropped the Vikings to 1-2-1, though, coach Mike Zimmer has helped steer the group back into dominant form. With daunting road trips to Chicago, New England and Seattle looming over three of the next four games, the pressure will be on the offense to do its part.“When you look at it glass half-full Womens Matt Wile Jersey , I’m thrilled about our locker room, the chemistry we have on this team, the quality of teammates, the quality of leadership we have in this organization. I think all that has probably even exceeded expectations from me,” Cousins said. “Certainly would have loved to be better than 5-3-1, but I’m grateful we’re not 3-5-1. You can look at it both ways. The point is, we keep saying, everything is in front of us.” John DeFilippo likely won’t have to worry about being repeatedly told to run the ball, if he gets the latest job for which he has interviewed.According to John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, the Cardinals have interviewed DeFilippo for their vacant offensive coordinator position.Vikings coach Mike Zimmer fired DeFilippo late in the 2018 season, after multiple public (and, prior to that, private) urgings to commit to the run. That likely won’t happen in Arizona, where new coach Kliff Kingsbury surely wasn’t hired to play ground and pound. (And where Kingsbury will be calling the plays.)Regardless of whether it’s Kingsbury or DeFilippo or some collaboration, the Cardinals have running back David Johnson on the roster, and he’s one of the best running backs in the league. It would be foolish for any team to skew too heavily toward the pass, and perhaps DeFilippo has learned his lesson. The broader question is whether DeFilippo can or will do what he’s told. Far more troubling than an approach to play calling that seemed to be more about showcasing his skills for a head-coaching job of his own than winning games is the fact that he apparently failed or refused to comply with direct orders from his boss, repeatedly. That’s something the Cardinals should fully explore and resolve before offering him a job.
David Bakhtiari Jersey , but they’ll have to judge him on tape and interviews alone."Although many NFL Draft analysts and NFL fans were excited to see one of the top athletes in the 2019 draft class work out next week in Indianapolis, it was not meant to be. Wide recever Marquise Brown, also known as “Hollywood,” was expected to light up the turf at Lucas Oil Stadium with his speed and agility.Instead, he next time he runs on an NFL field will most likely be on the opening day of his first training camp.According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Brown recently had surgery to repair a lisfranc fracture in one of his feet. As a result, he will skip his scheduled workouts at the Scouting Combine next week and at Oklahoma’s Pro Day on March 14th, and he may well miss his new team’s spring practices after the NFL Draft. Some saw Brown as a contender to put up the fastest time in the 40-yard dash in Indianapolis. According to NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread Ty Summers Green Bay Packers Jersey , Brown has been timed as low as 4.33 seconds in that drill. That is just one-one hundredth of a second slower than cornerback Denzel Ward, who had the fastest time at the 2018 Combine. This writer sees Brown’s best NFL comparison being veteran NFL receiver DeSean Jackson, and his speed is a big part of that. Both players are smaller receivers, measuring in around 5-foot-10 and just shy of 170 pounds, and Brown’s supposed 4.33 would put him just a few ticks faster than Jackson, who recorded a 4.35-second time in his combine in 2008. In addition, both players fit on the outside rather than playing a slot-only role that is sometimes reserved for those smaller players. In that role as a boundary deep threat, Brown could be a perfect fit for the Packers. Green Bay has an elite all-around receiver in Davante Adams and several bigger targets who could man the slot (including Equanimeous St. Brown). Adding Brown to Adams Ty Summers Jersey 2019 , St. Brown, and friends could bring a new and exciting dynamic to Aaron Rodgers’ receiver group. ESPN’s Mel Kiper projected the Packers to select Brown with the 12th pick in his most recent mock draft, though others see him as being a better and more reasonable value around the 30th overall selection. However, one thing is now certain: teams won’t have the benefit of timing and testing Brown on his athletic ability prior to the draft. It remains to be seen whether that will affect his draft stock, but Brown has put up two years of excellent tape for teams to review when making the decision whether or not to select him in April. Yes, you read that correctly."One of the most ridiculous things in NFL media circles recently is the consistent attack on Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ leadership qualities. A select few media outlets seem to enjoy taking comments from Rodgers’ former Packers teammates and spinning them into a narrative about how the two-time MVP is a bad teammate or a poor leader. Most of the comments that lead to these narratives come from one of two or three sources. That time arrived on April 26, 2018, when the Browns made quarterback Baker Mayfield the No. 1 overall selection in the 2018 NFL Draft.Mayfield went on to throw for a team-rookie-record 3 E.J. Gaines Color Rush Jersey ,725 yards in 2018, which is also the sixth-best mark by a rookie in NFL history. His 27 touchdown passes broke the rookie record of 26, which had been shared by Peyton Manning (1998 with the Indianapolis Colts) and Russell Wilson (2012 with the Seattle Seahawks). As he prepares for his second season running a Browns offense that should be one of the league’s most entertaining, Mayfield is ready to take his place among the league’s best quarterbacks, according to Vinnie Iyer at The Sporting News.Iyer ranked the starting quarterbacks for the league’s 32 teams, and after the standard group that included Green Bay’s Aaron Rodgers https://www.brownsfanshop.com/Damarious-Randall-Jersey , New England’s Tom Brady and New Orleans’ Drew Brees, Mayfield checked in at No. 9:A look at the rest of the list highlights some interesting takeaways:Mayfield is ranked ahead of the other starting quarterbacks in the AFC North: Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisber (No. 10), Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson (No. 23) and Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton (No. 26).Mayfield is light years ahead of his fellow rookies from the 2018 NFL Draft: Sam Darnold of the New York Jets (No. 22), Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills (No. 25) and Josh Rosen of the Miami Dolphins (No. 35).Mayfield is ranked higher than several quarterbacks that the Browns were allegedly going to “regret” not drafting or trading for: Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz (No. 11), Houston’s Deshaun Watson (No. 13), Chicago’s Mitchell Trubisky (No. 15) Darren Fells Jersey , San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo (No. 16).It may have taken the Browns longer than some would have liked to finally land their quarterback, but Mayfield quickly rewarded that patience as a rookie. Now with a year of experience, a full season working with head coach Freddie Kitchens, and a high-powered offense at his disposal, Mayfield should continue his ascension up the ranks of the league’s best quarterbacks.
new deal Blake Martinez Color Rush Jersey , we guessed that he’d get a signing bonus of $45 million. We were off a bit, but also right on the money. Sort of.Per a league source, Roethlisberger’s signing bonus will be $37.5 million, and he’ll earn another $2.5 million this year. Added to the $5 million roster bonus earned in March, that’s a grand total of $45 million for 2019.The two extra years of the contract have a value of $68 million, which is higher than the number previously reported. So the new-money average is $34 million — $500 https://www.thepackersfanshop.com/Dave-Robinson-Jersey ,000 more than Aaron Rodgers‘ $33.5 million figure. Given the $17 million Roethliberger was due to make in 2019, the total value of the deal is $85 million over three years, an average of $28.33 million. That beats Kirk Cousins‘ average of $28 million on the three-year deal he signed with the Vikings a year ago. Given Cousins’ relative lack of accomplishments, it’s hard not to wonder whether beating Kirk’s three-year cash was a priority for Roethlisberger. When Jimmy Graham signed a three-year deal worth $30 million with Green Bay back in March, he was expected to be a big weapon for Aaron Rodgers to throw to — especially in the red zone.Eleven games into his stint in Green Bay, that has not been the case.Playing through a broken thumb that kept him off the field in obvious blocking situations Aaron Jones Jersey , Graham was limited to 22 of the Packers’ 53 offensive snaps (42 percent) on Sunday in Minnesota. Against Seattle in Week 11, Graham played in 21 snaps (43 percent) before leaving with the injury. He had been playing in at least 2/3 of Green Bay’s offensive snaps in each of the Packers’ first nine games.Fellow tight ends Marcedes Lewis (23) and Lance Kendricks (22) saw a similar amount of playing time against the Vikings despite Graham’s hefty price tag. For Lewis, it his most offensive snaps of the season. His previous high was 22 (31 percent) against San Francisco in Green Bay’s sixth game.Graham was targeted just four times and caught two passes for 34 yards. The 32-year-old has tallied more than 34 receiving yards just once in the past five weeks. And he hasn’t done much in the red zone, either. Aaron Rodgers has targeted wide receiver Davante Adams a league-high 23 times inside the 20-yard line, while Graham has seen just eight — or 14.5 percent – of the red-zone targets.<em>Other notes from Sunday’s snap counts:</em>— For just the second time this season, Adams played in 100 percent of the offensive snaps.— Wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling was on the field for 44 plays (83 percent) but was targeted just twice Kenny Clark Color Rush Jersey , with one catch for three yards.— Jason Spriggs replaced an injured David Bakhtiari at left tackle twice due to injury and totaled 10 snaps in the loss.— Defensive tackle Kenny Clark played in a season-high 66 snaps (94 percent). Four days ago https://www.coltsfanshop.com/Johnny-Unitas-Jersey , the Chiefs celebrated a 25th anniversary that they’d rather not commemorate with silver, or anything else.January 8, 1994. Steelers at Chiefs. Wild-card round. With Joe Montana at quarterback, the Chiefs beat the Steelers in overtime, 27-24, at Arrowhead Stadium.Since then, the Chiefs haven’t won a single postseason game at Arrowhead Stadium. And they’ve played six there, losing each one.1995 season, as the No. 1 seed, Jim Harbaugh and the Colts upended the Chiefs at Arrowhead, 10-7.1997 season, again as the No. 1 seed, John Elway and the Broncos won a 14-10 game en route to the franchise’s first Super Bowl win.Six years later, it was the Colts again. This time with Peyton Manning at quarterback and a 38-31 shootout. Seven years after that, the Ravens came to town and dished out a 30-7 defeat.Next, a divisional-round loss to the Steelers in 2016 and a wild-card loss to the Titans in 2017. For the first time ever, the Chiefs will host a postseason game for the third straight year. And the Colts are the perfect team against which to end the streak, or perhaps the perfect team to extend it. The Colts have produced a 4-0 record against the Chiefs in the postseason, and the Colts have as many playoff wins at Arrowhead Stadium as the Chiefs do: Two.This time around, the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes. But they had Mahomes for a handful of high-stakes games this season, against the Patriots, Rams, Chargers, and Seahawks. And despite the best efforts of Mahomes, the Chiefs couldn’t win any of those contests.Today, the Chiefs have a chance to reverse a trio of narratives, relating to their quarter-century of playoff futility at home Jacoby Brissett Jersey , their inability to win big games in 2018, and their 0-for-4 all-time performance against the Colts in a single-elimination setting. Winning any of the AP’s individual NFL awards, from MVP to top rookie, means plenty to players.Being nominated for, no less winning, the Walter Payton Man of the Year award means more.Don’t minimize how proud a guy is when he’s voted one of the prestigious individual awards. It’s a portion of his resume that jumps off the page the way Saquon Barkley hurdles over potential tacklers. But being selected for the Payton award, renamed in 1999 for the great Chicago Bears running back and humanitarian, involves so much more than football achievements.“It is probably one of my greatest accomplishments,” says 2013 winner Charles Tillman, who played 12 seasons at cornerback for the Bears and his final year with the Panthers. “It really shows the true character of a person.“When fans see us, they just assume a lot of times we are just athletes. They don’t know what these men do on their days off during the season, in the community. A lot of players really put their community service in every week of the year. They get their charity work done and their volunteer work.“The Walter Payton Award is about excellence off the field. I am proud to be associated with that award.”Who wouldn’t be? In a time when many NFL players have been criticized or even condemned for their protests of social and racial injustice during the national anthem, many — if not most of them — also have been doing good deeds in their communities. They don’t do it for recognition or applause. As Tillman notes, they do it because they can “shed light on a bigger thing. It’s not just football. It’s about being a good person, serving other people and loving other people.”Unlike in the past, when three finalists were selected before a recipient was chosen, one player from every NFL team is a finalist. All will be recognized and participate in NFL functions during Super Bowl week. The Man of the Year will be revealed at NFL Honors, when The Associated Press’ individual NFL awards are announced Feb. 2 in Atlanta.Five current players have won the award: Drew Brees, Thomas Davis, Larry Fitzgerald, Eli Manning and J.J. Watt, and they wear a Man of the Year patch on their jerseys. All 2018 finalists will wear a Man of the Year helmet decal beginning this week through the end of the season.“It’s a tremendous honor,” Jets offensive tackle Kelvin Beachum says. This week, Beachum surprised Ca’moore Jones, an eighth-grade student at Orange Preparatory Academy in New Jersey, with two Super Bowl tickets. Moore was nominated by his teacher, Glenn Gamble Reggie Wayne Color Rush Jersey , for his performance and growth with the Character Playbook course that is embraced by the NFL.“Just the name Walter Payton, he’s the gold standard,” Beachum said. “What he did off the field and on the field, his excellence is bar none, top in history. So to be mentioned in the same name and the same breath as him, it’s truly humbling.”Humbling is an appropriate word because the award finalists often feel that sensation during their community work.“I’ve been blessed to play in this league for 13 years and to be a part of some really good seasons,” says Rams offensive tackle Andrew Whitworth, who is heavily involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. “But making a difference in someone’s life will go beyond football any day of the week. It’s not just about the game, it’s about the opportunity to bring people together. When I look back and think about my NFL career, the time spent out in the community giving back to people in need will always be the most touching to me.”Adds Colts DE Jabaal Sheard: “With our jobs as NFL players comes a huge platform to brighten and improve the lives of others, and that’s what I strive to do every day.”Tillman knows firsthand how kind and giving people can be. His own family was helped in 2008 when his infant daughter Tiana needed a heart transplant. Magali Garcia, the mother of 9-week-old Armando, who died in a Minnesota hospital, offered her son’s heart. To Tillman, Magali Garcia is a hero, not him. She is what the Payton award is all about.“When my daughter needed a new heart, another person stepped up and decided to take a bad situation and turn it into a success story,” Tillman says. “She not only blessed my family but other families with her choice.“For all we do in our foundation, it is a great blessing for what this woman did for her son. Magali, she is the one who actually is blessing those people, blesses them every day, and doesn’t even know it. She served my family and a lot of families and she made an amazing choice. A tough decision. I think about her son a lot and I truly am sorry. She is a part of my family, and for us to have this story that has bonded us, and this connection, and to turn that negative into something positive by blessing other people … I get great satisfaction in that.”So when the NFL Honors program is televised the night before the Super Bowl, pay special attention to the names below. Saturday night at AT&T Stadium the Seattle Seahawks and the Dallas Cowboys faced off for the second time during the 2018 season, however, this time around the stakes were much higher. When these two teams went head to head in Week 3 they entered the game a combined 1-3, after having combined to go 0-8 in the preseason. This time around The Hawks entered having won six of seven, while Dallas came in having won seven of their last eight. We all watched the game, so I won’t beat around the bush in making the point that this time around the Seattle offense simply could not do enough to defeat the Cowboys, and thus the offseason has arrived for Pete Carroll’s squad. There were defensive failures, special teams issues and Dion Jordan Color Rush Jersey , as always, multiple places to point the finger regarding why the team lost, however, it was the struggles of the offense that garnered the most attention. The offense managed just 299 yards of offense in the game, with 75 of those yards coming on a drive that started with the team down two scores with just over two minutes remaining. So, what happened to the Seattle offense? What led to the complete collapse of the running game in the most important game of the season? To start with, both of the guards played through injury. Right guard D.J. Fluker played in spite of a hamstring that caused him to missthree of the team’s final four games, and left guard J.R. Sweezy played through a broken bone in his foot. However, it’s likely that wasn’t all that led to the putrid offensive performance Saturday evening. As noted, this was the second time these two teams played this season, so the Cowboys coaching staff was familiar with the Seahawks offense and its pre-snap reads. As I’ve worked to show through the season, including in Week 11 against the Green Bay Packers and Week 12 when they went up against the Carolina Panthers, the Seahawks offense is far from complicated. Specifically, there appear to be specific reads that the team uses on offense in order to execute its strategy of a ball-control, physical offense. Unfortunately for Seattle fans, the reads don’t seem to be too difficult to discern. Over the final four games of the regular season the Seattle offense struggled, even as the team managed to work its way to a 3-1 record in those games. It’s the Week 15 loss to the San Francisco 49ers that shows what could be a troubling trend that continued in Dallas Saturday. In short Tedric Thompson Color Rush Jersey , the Seahawks have had trouble beating teams when they played for a second time this year. With the Wild Card game now in the books, the Seahawks finished the year having played four teams twice. Those four teams were the Cowboys and three divisional rivals from the NFC West, the 49ers, the Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles Rams. Now, it could certainly simply be a coincidence or it could be a sign of something bigger, but here’s how things shook out during each of the two matchups when Seattle faced off with these teams. Opponents Seahawks played twice in 2018OpponentGame 1Game 2OpponentGame 1Game 2Now, obviously a sample size of four is not enough to base an opinion on, but let me put it another way. Here is the list of teams the Seahawks defeated when they played a second time during 2018:Arizona CardinalsThat’s it. That’s the end of the list. The only team that the Hawks could beat the second time around was the team so bad that they finished the season 3-13, fired their head coach and hold the first pick in the draft this year. And even in defeating the worst team in the NFL while playing at home in the regular season finale, it took a game ending field goal from Sebastian Janikowski to secure that victory. So, hopefully it’s just an anomaly and not an indication of things to come, but at this point it’s impossible to rule out the idea that the reason the Hawks have trouble beating an opponent a second time around is because the offense is shockingly uncomplicated and highly predictable.
against the Packers and they scored it in a very familiar way.Jared Goff hit running back Todd Gurley for a 30-yard touchdown pass that put the Rams up 14-13 in the third quarter. Gurley then added a two-point conversion to stretch the lead to three points.Gurley and the Rams offense got off to a slow start against the Packers on Sunday J’Mon Moore Jersey , but they’ve scored touchdowns on two of their last three possessions. The Packers haven’t scored a touchdown since the first quarter and Aaron Donald‘s third-down sack earlier in the quarter meant the Packers had to settle for Mason Crosby‘s second field goal of the afternoon on their first drive of the second half. The second drive ended with a punt, which means the Rams are now in position to add to a lead it took them longer than usual to get. Both Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson staked their claim as the top two tight ends on Saturday at the 2019 NFL Scouting Combine Marquez Valdes-Scantling Jersey , with each player living up to the hype that has been coming their way since the conclusion of the college football season.Hockenson is currently seen as the better overall prospect, due to superior blocking abilities. Still, his athletic ability left nothing to be desired. At 6-foot-4 3鈦? and 251 pounds, Hockenson’s 4.70-second time in the 40-yard dash is very good. The same goes for his 37.5-inch vertical and 10-foot-3 broad jump. However JK Scott Jersey , his agility numbers are the equal of many of the better wide receivers in this year’s draft class, with a 7.02-second time in the 3-cone drill and a short shuttle time of 4.18.Fant, meanwhile, is drawing praise as a move tight end who will primarily contribute in the passing game. And for as impressive as Hockenson’s workout was Kevin King Jersey , Fant’s testing numbers were simply absurd. 6-foot-4, 250-pounders rarely run a 4.50-second 40, and they almost never put up a 3-cone time of 6.81 seconds. Both of those numbers are in the 95th percentile or above for tight ends, as were his numbers in the vertical (39 1鈦? inches) and broad jump (10-foot-7).Meanwhile Josh Jones Jersey , LSU’s Foster Moreau and Alabama’s Irv Smith both had solid workouts as well, though not quite as impressive as the two Iowa players’. FOX and the NFL got lucky on Thursday night with a great matchup — a matchup great enough to hold its own against an evening of TV news consumption following one of the most compelling political hearings in recent memory.Via John Ourand of SportsBusiness Daily, the Vikings-Rams game generated a 10.7 overnight rating. That’s an eight-percent increase from last year’s Week Four Thursday night game between the Bears and the Packers.Ourand notes that the spike in ratings looks even better when considering that the combined rating for the three major cable-news networks (MSNBC, FOX News, CNN) averaged 8.3, a 77-percent climb for the comparable night in 2017 Stefon Diggs Jersey , 84-percent more than the comparable night in 2016, and 144-percent higher than the comparable night in 2015.So that’s good news for the NFL. The better the game, the more compelling the teams, the more interesting the players, the more people will watch.
"Good morning Womens Lac Edwards Jersey , Jet fans! I hope everyone’s having a great start to their day. Cleveland Browns RB Duke Johnson has formally requested a trade from the team, and reports indicate the Jets are among many teams inquiring about the great receiving RB. A tandem of Bell and Johnson would cause opposing DC’s to have a fit. It would definitely make for some interesting offensive packages and I would love the mismatches presented. The Jets also brought in former Bengals OT Andre Smith for a visit. The Jets need depth along the line, this shows the team is at least attempting to bring people in after disappointing many during the FA period. In more pertinent Jets news, ERFA’s Frankie Luvu (LB) and RB De’Angelo Henderson have re-signed with the team. I like Frankie as competition and depth in the front 7, but I’m not sure why the Jets offered a contract to Henderson. He seems bound to be an obvious cut, but I like to root for the underdog so I hope he can find somewhere to stick around. With that said here are your links to the team this Wednesday.Robby Sabo - New York Jets sign ERFA OLB Frankie Luvu, RB De'Angelo HendersonRobby Sabo - New York Jets are kicking the tires on FA OT Andre Smith (Report)Sam Nuemann - Jets host former Bengals OT Andre Smith for visitSpencer Aber - NFL announces Jets’ offseason workout datesTyler Greenawalt - Jets holding off on beginning of offseason workout programsEthan Greenberg - Adam Gase Saw ‘A Lot of Good Tape’ from This JetScott Thompson - Do Jets have a problem with Jamison Crowder joining Quincy Enunwa?Robby Sabo - New York Jets' personnel configuration for every 3-4 & 4-3 defensive setGeoff Magliocchetti - The New York Jets & Kelechi Osemele: Partners in rebuildingJaclyn Hendricks - Le'Veon Bell calls out Keenan Allen after music critiqueSpencer Aber - Keenan Allen calls Jets RB Le’Veon Bell’s music trashDarryl Slater - NFL Draft 2019: Scouting reports, analysis for Jets’ best cornerback options | Julian Love http://www.jetslockerroom.com/authentic-sam-darnold-jersey , Deandre Baker, Trayvon Mullen, moreMatt Stypulkoski - NFL mock draft 2019: Blueprint for how Jets could fill all their major holes within opening 4 roundsDeon Williams - 2019 NFL draft: Breaking down Jets' potential 1st-round targetsMichael Nania - New York Jets 2019 NFL Draft: Potential Round 1 trading partnersBrandon Lee Gowton - 2019 NFL Mock Draft: New York Jets nab Quinnen WilliamsLuke Easterling - Jets' new uniforms: Check out these fan concept designsMike Kaye - The end for AAF? Alliance of American Football to suspend football operations (UPDATE)Here are your missed connections from yesterday. Here’s the thread about nothing, the super chilled version.I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful rest of the day! As the Jets search for a new General Manager, an important dynamic hovers over the franchise.Christopher Johnson has managed the team in the absence of his brother, Woody, who serves as the U.S. ambassador to the United Kingdom. At some point, Woody Johnson won’t be serving in that role. Thus Tarell Basham Jersey , at some point, Woody will be back.So what happens when Woody comes home, whenever that may be?Unless he’s comfortable with assuming an Owner Emeritus role and letting Christopher continue to run the team, Woody may decide sooner or later (or sooner than later) that he’s not comfortable with the personalities who are managing the team, whoever they may be at the time. The personalities managing the team likewise may not be comfortable with him.Of course, it also could work out just fine, too. But it definitely will rearrange the franchise’s furniture, and not everyone may be thrilled with the new positioning of the couch and chairs. The best way to ensure that Woody won’t make wholesale changes (if he returns within the next year or two) would be for the new power structure Womens Rashard Robinson Jersey , however it ends up, to win as many games as possible. And through all the recent dysfunction, that could happen. The hay that will become the 2019 roster essentially is in the barn, and the development of second-year quarterback Sam Darnold will be much more relevant to the team’s fortunes than the churning of the bottom of the 90-man roster through Labor Day weekend and, at that point, the refinement to 53 (35-40 of them will be obvious). If coach Adam Gase can hit the ground sprinting with Darnold and Le'Veon Bell fueling the offense and a defense that will experience a major kick in the ass from coordinator Gregg Williams, the Jets could thrive quickly. And that would go a long way toward making both/either Johnson far more inclined to stay the course — even if Woody ends up being far less enamored personally with Adam Gase than Woody was with Rex Ryan.
quarter of the NFL’s regular season into their own version of “La La Land.”The Rams have gotten off to a dominant start. They are 4-0 and have outscored their opponents by a league-leading combined 73 points so far this season and have the NFL’s most potent offense Matthew Slater Jerseys 2019 , averaging 468.5 yards a game. All of that adds up to the Rams repeating as the unanimous top team in the latest AP Pro32 poll .For the second consecutive week, the Rams received all 12 first-place votes and 384 points in balloting Tuesday by media members who regularly cover the NFL.The Rams leave Hollywood, heading out on the road for the next three weeks, as they look to stay perfect.“The Rams are 4-0 for the first time since 2001, which is fitting, because (coach) Sean McVay and (quarterback) Jared Goff are putting on their own great offensive show,” said Jenny Vrentas of The Monday Morning Quarterback. The Kansas City Chiefs, who overcame a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter to top the Denver Broncos 27-23 on Monday night, remained at No. 2.“Patrick Mahomes does things every week that leave you awe-inspired,” Newsday’s Bob Glauber said. “A modern-day Brett Favre, Mahomes brought back the Chiefs against the Broncos with some of the best playmaking you’ll ever see from an NFL quarterback.”The Jacksonville Jaguars inched up a spot to No. 3 after routing the New York Jets 31-12. The Jaguars face the Chiefs on Sunday in the top matchup of Week 5.Running back Leonard Fournette might not play for the Jaguars because of a hamstring injury. He already has missed 2½ games with the injury.“Worries about Fournette’s hammy,” Fox Sports’ John Czarnecki said. The New Orleans Saints also moved up a spot to No. 4 after beating the New York Giants 33-18 and will close out the week against another NFC East opponent when they host Washington on Monday night.“As Drew Brees closes in on the NFL record book, the Saints are rolling since that Week 1 shocker against Tampa Bay,” said Ira Kaufman of Fox 13 in Tampa, Florida. The Baltimore Ravens and Cincinnati Bengals, tied atop the AFC North at 3-1 White Devin McCourty Jerseys , both made major moves in the poll. The Ravens jumped four spots to No. 5 after topping the rival Pittsburgh Steelers 26-14 on Sunday night. The Bengals climbed six spots to No. 6 after rallying past the Atlanta Falcons 37-36 on Andy Dalton’s TD pass to A.J. Green with 7 seconds remaining. The New England Patriots moved up three spots to No. 7 after pounding the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins 38-7. The Patriots (2-2) are the highest-ranked team with a .500 record. They will open Week 5 on Thursday night, when they host Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. The AFC East-leading Dolphins (3-1) plummeted nine spots to No. 15 and are the lowest-ranked team with a winning record. The Chicago Bears moved up eight spots to No. 8 after dominating the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 48-10 as Mitchell Trubisky threw six touchdown passes. The NFC North-leading Bears have a bye this week before facing Miami on Oct. 14.“Not only are the Bears good now,” said Alex Marvez of The Sporting News. “The best is yet to come with Mitch Trubisky.”The Carolina Panthers, who are coming off their bye week, slipped two spots to No. 9. They will host the Giants on Sunday. The Tennessee Titans (3-1), who share first place in the AFC South with the Jaguars, jumped up five spots to round out the top 10. CINCINNATI (AP)Andy Dalton was dreadful in the Bengals’ opener, turning over the ball five times and finishing with the second-lowest passer rating of his career. He’ll have one thing in his favor Thursday night: He tends not to let bad days linger. The crowd at Paul Brown Stadium will get on Dalton if he comes out subpar when the Bengals host the Texans, with both teams coming off lopsided opening losses. Dalton, who grew up in the Houston suburb of Katy, has struggled throughout his career against the Texans’ in-your-face defense. ”We had a down game, I had a down game,” Dalton said . ”I’ve just got to go back and play like I know I can play.” History is on his side. He matched his career high with four interceptions and lost a fumble during a 20-0 loss to the Ravens on Sunday, the first time Cincinnati was shut out in a home opener. The crowd of 55,254 – 10,000 below stadium capacity – jeered him off the field. Dalton’s passer rating of 28.4 was the second lowest of his career. His only worse game was against the Browns in 2014 Devin McCourty Jerseys 2019 , when he threw three interceptions at Paul Brown Stadium and had a rating of 2.0 during a 24-3 loss. Dalton followed it with a big game in a 27-10 win at New Orleans, throwing for three touchdowns and a rating of 143.9 that is the second best of his career. ”He’s very competitive and very particular about things,” coach Marvin Lewis said. Dalton is 1-5 career against his hometown team, including a pair of first-round playoff losses. He’s thrown three touchdowns and seven interceptions against the defense that’s been in his face and in his head. The Bengals expect his counterpart to be a rookie making his first NFL start , although the Texans hadn’t said anything definitively. Deshaun Watson took over at halftime of a 29-7 loss to the Jaguars and was 12 of 23 for 102 yards with a touchdown, an interception and a fumble. The first-round pick is the ninth quarterback to play for the Texans in the past five seasons. ”He’s a playmaker with good instincts, and he’s young,” Houston quarterbacks coach Sean Ryan said. ”He’s going to make some mistakes, and it’s on us to keep working with him and minimize his mistakes and get rid of them, not repeat them.” Some things to watch on Thursday night: OFFENSIVE LINES: The Texans gave up 10 sacks in their opener, while Dalton was sacked five times and under constant pressure – two of his interceptions were tipped. Dalton was among the NFL’s most-sacked quarterbacks last season, dropped 41 times. Neither team ran the ball much in the openers – the Texans had 93 yards, the Bengals 77 – leaving the quarterbacks in tough situations. BAITING THE ROOKIE: The Bengals are preparing for Watson and figure they’ll have a big advantage with a rookie making his first start on the road in a night game. ”You’ve got to give him different looks, not just drop into coverage,” cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick said. ”You disguise because that’s intimidating when you’ve got guys out there moving around, talking. That’s intimidating for a young quarterback because he’s got to be sitting back like White Isaiah Wynn Jerseys , `Man, those guys know what’s going on.”’ J.J.’S SECOND CHANCE: J.J. Watt’s return in the opener was underwhelming. He missed most of last season with a back injury. He was hoping to make a splash against the Jaguars, but managed only one tackle and one hit on the quarterback. Watt also was treated for a dislocated finger on his left hand. ”I think the emotion of it and just settling down is something that’s probably the biggest thing,” Watt said. ”Just settling down, trusting what I do and not trying to do too many things at once.” PACMAN & STRONG BACK, MANY OTHERS OUT: Bengals CB Adam “Pacman” Jones returns from his one-game suspension for an offseason misdemeanor conviction. LB Vontaze Burfict serves the second of his three-game NFL suspension for his latest egregious hit. The Texans get backWR Jaelen Strong from his one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy, but they’ve got far worse injury problems than the Bengals. TE C.J. Fiedorowicz went on injured reserve with a concussion, and two other tight ends, Stephen Anderson and Ryan Griffin, are out with concussions, along with LB Brian Cushing and WR Bruce Ellington. BAD NUMBERS: The Texans last opened a season 0-2 in 2015. The Bengals haven’t gone 0-2 since 2008. They’ve been shut out in back-to-back games only once in their 50-year history, during the 2000 season. Coach Bruce Coslet resigned after that second shutout. Two members of the 2000 team, Rich Braham and Takeo Spikes, are among former Bengals stars to be honored at halftime Thursday. — AP Sports Writer Kristie Rieken in Houston contributed to this report. —
