Offensive coordinator Norv Turner and quarterbacks coach Scott Turner attended Thorson’s pro day in Evanston. They also have a top 30 visit scheduled with Thorson according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network. There is no question that there is a high level of interest. The question is how soon should the Panthers or any team draft him? The earliest he should be considered is the sixth round. NFL coaches especially on the offensive side of the ball have an arrogance about their coaching ability. They see a quarterback like Thorson who has the build Youth Daryl Williams Jersey , tools, and high character and they assume that they can develop him into a worthwhile player. Thorson has shown that he can work the pocket. He shows a good feel for this speed rush, steps up, and drops a beautiful ball in the bucket for a touchdown.He was an efficient thrower in the middle of the field for the Wildcats. If the offensive line gave him a clean pocket, then he can rip throws like this.The inconsistencies were a large part of his game though.On this throw, Thorson does an excellent job of manipulating the pocket, keeps his eyes downfield, and then shows a sound release. The problem is his deep accuracy is concerning. It’s questionable that Thorson managed the pocket well on this play. He is reading the three level concept, but he should not force this throw. He’s rolling to his weak-side and then just lobs it for grabs.Thorson has a completely clean pocket Stitched Daryl Williams Jersey , but again his deep accuracy lets his receiver down. This ball should be led further and towards the sideline hashes. Throwing deep balls is hard! I’m not expecting perfect accuracy from any quarterback on these throws, but Thorson has a collection of misses.Thorson also has a habit of abandoning clean pockets, which is infuriating to watch.He has an opportunity to step up and create a different angle if he steps into the void left by the left guard and tackle. Instead, Thorson rolls to his right and barely gives his receiver an opportunity.Thorson doesn’t have the upper body strength to make an accurate throw when his base isn’t set. It’s not a coincidence that the best young quarterbacks have this trait. On the second throw, again, he had no business leaving the pocket. He has to realize his limitations and play within the confines of Northwestern’s offense.Even when Thorson isn’t pressured, he shows awful accuracy. The pass rush speeds up his internal clock, which causes him to rush his process. This led to poor footwork as he attempts to throw this crosser. The final area that Thorson shows serious concern is anticipation. In my opinion, this is an area that can’t be taught at the next level. If quarterbacks don’t have the processing speed and quick trigger at the college game Youth Michael Palardy Jersey , how are they expected to learn it in the NFL against complex defenses and better athletes?Thorson had a -0.15 EPA per drop back in 2018. This was significant news for Baltimore as Smith is their top cornerback, but it appears they have the depth to handle his absence for multiple weeks. When Smith missed the final four games of the 2017 season, the Ravens’ secondary did not struggle to the level that they did in previous years without him. The loss of Smith provided an opportunity for Marlon Humphrey to receive more snaps, and he took full advantage of that opportunity. Humphrey was impressive in his first NFL start against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 14. He only allowed six completions for 37 yards on 12 targets, including two receptions for seven yards to Antonio Brown on five targets, per Pro Football Focus. With Humphrey likely becoming the team’s top cornerback in this scenario, Brandon Carr would be the No. 2 cornerback. He was inconsistent for much of the 2017 season, but he is an ironman. Carr has started every game in his 10-year NFL career. The return of Tavon Young as the team’s primary slot cornerback paired with the versatility and emergence of Maurice Canady and Anthony Averett would give Baltimore a talented secondary despite Smith’s absence. The Ravens did bring in cornerback Bashaud Breeland, which could show that they may not be content with the cornerback position without Smith. However, given the strong play of Anthony Averett in the preseason, their perception of their depth at this position could change. Since suspended players do not count towards the 53-man roster, the Ravens would seemingly have an extra roster spot. However, not having Johnson on the field, to be something the Bears have to think about, is what is completely inexcusable and in the end should be one of the last decisions McCoy gets to make in Arizona.Call it an overreaction, but McCoy should not have much to do with Rosen’s development and he should be gone moving forward.I’m not ready to call it on Steve Wilks, but the longer McCoy is on the staff, the harder it will be to defend him.

DeMarcus Lawrence and Jadeveon Clowney would top my list as potential targets to come to the 49ers. I doubt either the Dallas Cowboys or Houston Texans let go of Lawrence and Clowney respectively, but stranger things have happened. Given how the 49ers played against the Arizona Cardinals, they may have a shot at Nick Bosa—a man that could solve all their pass rushing problems. Rodgers’ yards per completion rebounded in 2018, jumping back up to 11.9 after three straight seasons around 11.0. That helped his yards per attempt reach 7.4, his highest mark since an 8.4 number in his last MVP season in 2014. He also set the NFL’s lowest mark for single-season interception rate, throwing just two picks for a rate of 0.3% while setting a record for most consecutive attempts without an interception.And all the while Kyle Murphy Jersey White , Rodgers struggled with his accuracy, missing deep balls that were routine for him. His footwork seemed off, as he would throw from odd platforms even when protected well. And on third downs, Rodgers too often held the football rather than throwing to open receivers, taking 49 sacks this season — two short of his career-high in a single season.A knee injury that Rodgers suffered in week one clearly affected him all year. It seemingly impacted his mechanics, even when that knee became less of an issue later in the season. There is reason to suspect that a multitude of other minor ailments bothered Rodgers this season as well, which could help explain some of the consistent issues he displayed.However, the Packers’ offense looked at its best when Rodgers was getting the football out of his hands quickly and in rhythm. Ironically, the best example of this was in the second half of the opening game, when he returned to the field in the third quarter and led the team to a thrilling comeback win over the eventual NFC North champion Chicago Bears. In that game, Rodgers was precise, he was decisive, and he looked like the Rodgers we all knew and expected.After that, it fell apart, as he and Mike McCarthy seemingly could not get on the same page. His arm strength is there as well. However, his presence in the pocket still needs significant work, and his accuracy and decision-making are both terribly inconsistent.Third String: Tim BoyleNo statsThe big-armed Boyle was a preseason darling, as he showed off his cannon on multiple occasions. However, he was only an insurance policy for the Packers this season, as he suited up on game day only a few times in the immediate aftermath of Rodgers’ knee injury.Overall Grade: CWas it a down year for Rodgers? And yet, too often he missed or passed up open receivers, he threw the ball away at a stunning frequency, and he was one of the biggest reasons for the team’s issues with converting on third down.Meanwhile, Kizer played so little that his performance barely factors in here at all, though his individual grade probably deserves an F for his handling of the second quarter of the Bears game alone.Getting Rodgers’ play back into the A range will be job number one for new head coach Matt LaFleur. If he can get Rodgers’ yards per attempt back up around 8 or higher next year, that should put him back squarely in the MVP conversation and should return the Packers to serious playoff and championship contention.

Perriman is actually the first first-round pick to be let go before he could finish his rookie contract. This only solidifies his bust status as he was never able to make an impact for the Ravens. Baltimore was hoping he could be their new Torrey Smith, but that just never ended up being the case.The cuts from the Ravens represent a purge from recent draft classes. The Ravens currently have 12 rookies on their roster, which is pretty substantial. Offensive tackle Ronnie Stanley is the only remaining pick from the first three rounds of the 2016 draft, and the Ravens only have four players remaining from the 2015 draft. Neither draft is about to go down as a favorite draft for many teams, but it is clear the Ravens had some pretty big misses.Most surprising player kept:Robert Griffin III, QuarterbackGiven how well Lamar Jackson played at times during the preseason, it seemed like Griffin was auditioning for a backup job elsewhere. However, it seems the Ravens see some value in keeping Griffin, at least for the moment. A growing trend for the NFL is the idea that you can never have too many quarterbacks. How often have we seen a team lose their quarterback Cordy Glenn Jersey , and suddenly their season is lost?The Ravens may be hoping one of those teams or a team with an under performing quarterback come knocking around the trade deadline, so they can get something for Griffin instead of just cutting him. I mean, if AJ McCarron gets traded for a fifth round pick, then the Ravens should be able to get something for Griffin. The Cleveland BrownsNotable cuts:Carl Nassib, Defensive endCorey Coleman (traded a few weeks ago but still)Shon Coleman, Offensive linemanNate Orchard, Defensive linemanDevon Cajuste, Tight end (On this list for Hard Knocks reasons)Shon Coleman was a strange move, but after following the team essentially giving Corey Coleman to the Bills, it seems about right. Maybe the Browns just hate players with the name Coleman. Both were projected to play fairly large roles for the Browns this season, but now each will be playing somewhere else. Although, the Bills did eventually cut Corey Coleman, so maybe Cleveland made a good call there. Nassib showed a little bit of promise early in his career, but he never really improved after that. He only had 5.5 sacks in two years with the team while playing around half of the defensive snaps his rookie season and then around 60 percent last year. Nassib was a failed third-round pick from 2016. That was the same draft Cleveland decided they were too good for Carson Wentz, which is looking like a bigger and bigger mistake. Now, the only player left from the first three rounds of that draft is pass rusher Emmanuel Ogbah.Biggest keep: Desmond Harrison, Offensive tackleIt isn’t really that surprising Harrison stayed once the major cuts started, but it is more of the team saying they believe in this undrafted rookie more than Coleman, who was a third-round pick in 2016. The Browns still don’t really know who will be starting along the left side. The biggest domino to fall is whether the team will play Joel Bitonio at left tackle or guard. If he sticks inside at guard Dre Kirkpatrick Jersey , then we could see Harrison starting at left tackle, a spot many felt Coleman would’ve been filling before training camp and OTAs started.The Pittsburgh SteelersNotable cuts:Landry Jones, QuarterbackFitzgerald Toussaint, Running backEli Rogers, Wide Receiver (PUP list)Jones is easily the biggest name released. He had been Ben Roethlisberger’s backup for most of his career, and he enjoyed some mild success filling in for the Pro Bowl quarterback. He clearly wasn’t viewed as the future by the Steelers, through. They drafted Joshua Dobbs in the fourth round of 2017 and Mason Rudolph in the third round this season. It looks like these two will be battling out to see who Pittsburgh’s successor will be at quarterback.The one note on Rogers is on top of being placed on the PUP list, which means he can’t play until after Week 6, he also is suspended for the first game of the season. This means Rogers won’t be eligible until Week 9 since the Steelers bye week is Week 7. That means we will see an awful lot of rookie wide receiver James Washington.Most surprising keeps: Backup running backsLe’Veon Bell hasn’t been clear about when he will return to the team, and there’s less than one week before the Steelers’ first game. This year, the Steelers kept three other running backs, but Toussaint wasn’t one of them. James Conner, Jaylen Samuels and Steven Ridley all made the team. They are a nice mix of styles, as Conner is a big rumbling back, Samuels is a threat catching the ball, and Ridley is a nice in between the tackles runner as well.
